The NEC Classic Motor Show 16th - 18th Nov 2012
http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...EC2012logo.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...psa550ebad.gif http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...EC2012logo.jpg It gives us great pleasure to announce that for the third year running The Rover 75 & MG ZT Owners Club will be attending The Footman James NEC Classic Motor Show at The NEC in Birmingham. This three day event runs from Friday 16th November to Sunday 18th, and for anyone who hasn't been before it's quite something. With over 10 halls full of classic vehicles to look at, and hundreds of car clubs displaying some excellent examples it really is worth a visit. There are also a great many trade stands offering all manner of car and bike related items. This year the Owners Club can be found in Hall 7 next to the Wheeler Dealers Live stage, and adjacent to the refreshments and cafe area. We will be exhibiting three members cars, a Rover 75 and two MG ZTs, and will again have items available from the club shop for sale, a live forum connection for anyone wishing to browse or even sign up and the EPC (Electronic Parts Catalogue) will be available if anyone wishes to look up a part number. We'd be delighted to meet anyone from the club who happens to be visiting the show, so please feel free to pop over for a chat. So to the cars we will have on display then: Firstly SD1too has kindly offered us his Mark 1 Rover 75 Connoisseur 2.5 V6 Automatic dealer launch vehicle, finished in refined Wedgwood Blue, and complimented with a Neptune Blue leather personal line interior. This car is in immaculate condition and even sports an original set of MG Rover OEM door finishers. To illustrate the MG Marque, we have two examples on offer, The Flying Banana will be present with his stunning Monogram Mirage Supertallic pre-facelift ZT 260 V8 saloon which will help showcase the two V8 variants nicely. Finally, Juzza0 will be providing his extremely eye catching Facelift MG ZT-T CDTi in Monogram Shot Silk with Monogram Cream leather seats and OEM built in Flip down DVD player in the centre of the roof lining. The car also has a Shot Silk painted dash, and widescreen highline sat nav fitted. http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...silkgaydon.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...C2012flyer.jpg Now the best bit, the NEC are offering a club discount for entry on the Saturday and Sunday, when purchased in advance via their website or telephone hotline. Usual entry price on the door is £21.50 per person, but by quoting discount code 2012SC you can save £5.00 with tickets costing just £16.50 the offer is limited to 2 tickets per member, and includes a glossy show guide worth £7.50. In addition, family tickets are available admitting 2 adults and up to 3 children (5-16 years) as a group. Use discount code 2012FC to save up to £39.50 on the individual door price. Family tickets cost £35.00 and are limited to 1 per member. Again all ticket prices include a copy of the official show guide to the value of £7.50 Full details can be found on the official website. Last time I went to a car show at the NEC it was max power live and I had a center parting and a under cut! So thing I might venture down on the Sunday :D

Although from the national meet video, as good as it is we could do with some max power type girls, just on the MG's like, we don't want them falling asleep on a R75 bonnet! |

I'll be there on the Friday again this year, see if I can come up with something a little more upbeat this time ;). |

Quote:
thanks for your comments about my latest effort :D |
if we go it will be on the sat or Sunday i expect
|
Jan & myself are realy hoping to get to the NEC for this but to be honest it's a bit of a haul from Dorset for a day out and being in November with Christmas around the corner it will have to be a last minute decision if funds allow..
Cheers Ian |

is it me or does the dicount code not work? tickets for the Sunday are £18.50 but when you enter the code it still says the same??
YES, its me, working now! |
Just booked for the saturday 2 tickets
|
The family code does not seem to work,i entered it but it still stayed the same price £45 instead of £35??
|

Give the ticket hotline a ring and explain it to them, I'm sure they can sort it for you, at the very least they need to be made aware of the problem. 0871 230 1088 |
As a result of last years show, we lost the Dueltone belonging to DaveT. :(
(He sold it)... :o ... |
Are all 4 cars there for the full three days? Only, due to work, I would only be able to make it on the Sunday...
|
Yes they are, however we have been relocated to another spot who's dimensions will only allow us to display three cars comfortably now. :( subject to any last minute change back - which is looking highly unlikely, we will not be able to feature the Rover 75 V8 on this occasion. The dealer launch 75, Monogram ZT-T tourer, and 'Blue Thunder' ZT 260 V8 will still be on show for all of the days though.
We are very sorry that we have had to withdraw a car, but it is beyond our control, and we would certainly look to featuring the 75 V8 next time. |
we will be there on the Saturday with cameras:D in hand
|
Looking at the current Hall plans, if the club is on stand 7C75, then it looks a good spot - right in front of the Wheeler Dealers live stage, and near food/drink and toilets!
I met Edd China at Chris Evans' CarFest recently, got an autograph (along with one from Chris and Petter Solberg) and had a little chat - he is tall, well compared to me! |
Quote:
Not necessarily a good thing our stand has been in front of them for the last 2 years and its makes for a very noisy weekend :getmecoat: |
Quote:
|
i'll take a photo or two of the stand i'm sure :D

As last year, anyone who has an Apple iPhone or Android smartphone can now download the free app which will give you details about who is exhibiting, where you'll find them, a timetable for events and demos, traffic reports around the NEC, news items, and best of all, a turn by turn map which will help you locate the stands you want.
Just search for Footman James Classic Motor Show in the app store or android market and you should find it. |
Yes this year it's on android ;) and can be found on Google Play by searching for Footman James

I've got me hat but no red nose. Doubt if Reebs will let me wear it. I'm after a diesel ZT or ZTT, saw a nice Green one tonight in the pub car park. But want Monogram or I'll settle for a lowered Firefost ZT.:drool4:
|
Why would I not let you wear it Bob  go for it, just don't display the naked lady still on your dash ;)
|
Pics RSVP :)

How about we raise a few quid for children in need..I'll donate £10 if Bob wears the hat for at least part of the day.. Come on guys get your wallets out Cheers Ian |

Then later we had Mike Brewer, Edd China and Paul Brackley from wheeler dealers over

It is a lot of work and long days, but enjoyable in meeting so many old and potentially new members, as well as those that joined on the day and those that subscribed.:D It has been an eye opener on so many fronts as to the number of 75 & ZT appreciation people that are out there and who never knew that clubs existed for the marques ;) They now know better :D Tomorrow is another day..................... ;) |
Thanks guys for flying the MGR flag high and its lovely to see everyone looking so relaxed and refreshed having fun. Great job.
|
Did you try persuade them to turn their magic onto SVP in the next series ? :)
|
Great day on the stand yesterday, we had so much interest around the marque. The owners exhibiting their cars have to be thanked for allowing the public to jump in and out of their treasured possessions ;)
The stand looks great and each year we live and learn so next year hopefully it will look even better :D |

Popped over to the stand yesterday - very impressive, so well done to all involved. On the downside - I didn't get to speak to anyone as all involved were rushed off their feet with admiring customers.. On the plus side, I had my brother with me who is a confirmed MG nut. He has an MGF, an MG Midget and a ZR, but after looking at the stand has now decided he wants a ZTT!!
Cliff |
What a great show, front row seats for Ed & Mike, this looked a bit of alright as well, lovely car:

|
Well it looks like you all did a great job and had a good day too. It'll be interesting to see if this increases the club member base at all.
Rik. |
Judging by the interest people showed, I think it will :}

NEC Rip-off
Went along with the wife on Saturday and thought it was a great show. Had a chat with Reebs and the team and we thought our stand looked very professional. On the negative side £10 for parking and £4.50 for a hot dog seems like the usual rip-off at NEC events. Glad we were able to take advantage of the club discount.
|
Due to the forum outage my NEC post was lost :(
A few pictures from the build up of the stand on the Thursday http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...-181112008.jpg http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...-181112015.jpg http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...-181112017.jpg http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...-181112019.jpg http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...-181112023.jpg http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...-181112026.jpg The Wheeler Dealear team one night after the show closed http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...-181112029.jpg The Practical Classics editor Danny Hopkins with juzza0 aka Justin http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...-181112053.jpg It was rather busy near our stand during the live show performances, these were taken on Sunday whilst Flying Banana aka Bob was attemting to protect Blue Thunder from the hoardes. http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...118_121620.jpg http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...118_121841.jpg I kept meaning to have a walk round some of the other halls early one morning but just never got chance due to our stand being busy all day. Imho the real stars of our stand were the members that provided their cars . A special thanks from me to Jezzer 1 aka Jeremy who ran me round the car parks on Sunday evening in search of my car :o. |
It looks like a really good time was had by all.
Great photo's |
In the background of a few of the shots you can see a car I used to own.....The pewter grey Rover 800 Vitesse Coupe on the Rover800.info stand! Used to love that car, still regret selling it although it did leave the way open for me to buy the ZTT!

http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...upeCMS2012.jpg another video capture this time of Jon Bentley on our stand http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...leyCMS2012.jpg we didn't manage to persuade Chris Barrie, "the Stig" or the two beauties from the Practical Classics stand to join us :( |

Well, I certainly tried. ;);) |

Cheers Ian |

Well a big thank you to the Club and everyone for a fantastic weekend. We had some long days but some fun days/evenings and it was good to spend some time and get to know the mods so well, so a big thanks to Christoper, Paul (Reebs), Jim (J1MBO), Dave (Duotone), Andrew (Dragrad), Neil Coupland, Phil (parker), Jeremy (Jezzer1), anyone else I've missed off the list and my two fellow show mates Bob (the Flying Banana) and Simon (SD1too).
It was a once in a lifetime event and Di and me enjoyed it immensely. Thanks again to everyone, and here's some more pics: http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...fbd5044e26.jpg http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...fbcec1237d.jpg http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...fbced4b209.jpg Another celeb, Quentin Wilson: http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...fc20ccff13.jpg http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...fc20d51f9b.jpg Bob (The Flying Banana): http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...fc13355049.jpg Simon (SD1too): http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...fc133befa5.jpg And the A-Team :D http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...fc1c14acd6.jpg |
Well it's great to read that the event was a success for the Club, and all those that attended enjoyed the experience.
I had a ball last year, I can talk the subject of the 75/ZT all day long, perhaps I'll have the pleasure again next year. |
A short video of our stand at the Classic Motor Show covering the build up day on the Thursday, the start of the show on Friday and "early doors" on the Saturday.

Nice one Jim :D And the long one is due when ? ;):getmecoat::D:D

Nice video Jim, well done..
Dave T |
Top job Jim, fantastic video

Well done Jim.

Nice one Jim as usual At least it gives us mere mortals an idea how much hard work that is put into this show, well done lads
