HELP! Engine not starting!

After 3 dream journeys in June & July, my V6 refuses to start!
Not the faintest clicking, no ticking, nothing at all when I put the key in the starting position.
Everything is switched on as usual, dash & counters, lamps, radio is able to work.
When I try to start, the fan is stopping as - I assume - it does in such a situation: mind that when the engine is starting and all is fine, I don't notice everything working...

The battery a strong AGM Banner - 2 1/2 years - looks fine, very well cared for, regularly charged and tested gives 12.7V.
The starter - 1 1/2 year - is a nearly new one, sold as refurbished in Nov 2018. I assume that the solenoid was changed and was new.
The car is always garaged when at home.
Not even the slightest mark of moisture or rot anywhere, the whole car is very sound.

I thought it could be the immobilizer but I've successfully tried to open, lock & reopen the car with the fob, and it works fine (red light first clicking fast, then slowly and regularly when car is locked). Could the key not be recognized all the same when inserted?
How could I know if it's the immobilizer or not?

It's scary & I'm lost...

I'm an absolute ass, a desperate driver! I thinks it might be the horrific heat we are suffering of at the moment. Here is the evidence I was hopeless when I attempted to start!

It doesn't mean anything to a manual car driver.

Did it start or not ??-------------

Nothing on those dials to show it's running.

:D

Glad you got it sorted ... would have been a hot, restless, sleepless night otherwise!

Hope you are keeping well, won't be travelling down your way again for a while I think...

Keep safe

John

Well done, we like the simple fixes :D

I got it....eventually🙄
However, my “duotone” will actually start in both D and R, much to my surprise one evening, as I casually leaned through the window, turned the key, and then had to chase after the bloomin’ thing.🙄

An auto shouldn’t start when “D” is selected.

An auto should only start when the gear selector is in 'N' or 'P'

Arctic 30th July 2020 23:25

Check (P)

I think all Auto owners have done this one time or another, only happened to me last Thursday out side Aldi, when i came tried to start the car nowt, nothing no clicking or lights flashing, just turn the key silence, for about 3 minutes i was confused then looked down at the gear stick it was in drive, i must have pulled up handbrake on turned engine off before putting it into (P) so left it in (D) :duh:

I had a smile on my face as i realised :D
