Water loss update.

Well after a lot of searching and probing I think I have finally
solved the water loss problem with my 75 Diesel.

it all started with a sudden loss of water, But no mixing of oil and water in the header tank.

But there was an increase in the oil level in the sump.

Worst case Head Gasket, Crack in the Block or Head. But there was no pressure build-up in the radiator.

Upon draining the oil I released about a litre and a half of water from the sump.

So how was the water getting into the sump?

Further investigation did not show anything that could cause it.

After a photo put on by Mike Noc of the oil filter body I decided to remove said filter body and oil cooler.

Upon inspection, the seal did not look that bad but I changed both oil cooler and oil filter body seals and reassembled them back on to the engine.

Filled and bled the cooling system, Have now done 160 miles and have NOT lost any water so hopefully this has solved the problem.

Just need to keep an eye on the water/oil levels for a time to make sure.

Most certainly will,,,Fingers crossed ay,.

Mind you it was loosing about 1/2 a litre into the sump every 20 odd miles so it looks good at the moment.

Certainly better prospects than " Diesel Engine required" posted recently. :)
Hope all is OK.
