Chinese Android Tablets

Guys,

I'm in the market for a new 9" or 10"Android Tablet and I am attracted by the value and specifications the Chinese makers offer.

They are essentially iPad clones in terms of form factor but with cutting edge specifications for around the £180 - £200 mark. I have identified a number of UK based suppliers, so Import Duties etc. is not an issue.

Has anyone had any experience of such? Are they any good? Should I be aware of any particular issues?

ta,

I've 7 incher and a 10 inch ooer missus ..

the 7 was 45 quids and the 10 65.. both of Fleabay .

Both work OK within they're limitations ..

battery life is a bit short .. but with some tuning its about 3 hours ..

Wifi is Ok .. mine has no Bluetooth, nor HDMI output but play games browse the web and plays movies over our WiFi all OK ..
Both have play store all installed .

But they aren't a Samsung nor IPAD by any means ..

Grandson also has a 7 inch , and its had the touch screen broken twice , but got spares easy and sorted for under £20 ..

I've been having a good mooch around and have misgivings about the ultimate quality of these devices!

I suppose it really is a case of 'you get what you pay for'. Thus, I shall go with one of the more established brands methinks!

if you don't mind waiting a couple weeks then I'll suggest the Nexus 10 (the 7 inch version has been rated the best tablet going so the 10 must be a decent option to follow)

and CES2014 is in 2 days where the 2nd generation Nexus 10 is due to be revealed meaning the first one should start dropping in price soon

Hi daverich,

Had a quick gander...it would appear the 10.1" is no longer available. Intrigued by the other Hannspree model...although the specs are a little wanting!

Just bear in mind that iPads are made in China and people pay stupid money for them! :duh:

Get yourself on eBay, do a search with "Cheapest inc P+P" and buy whatever comes up, use until it goes wrong and then get another one! ;)

Edit: Just had a quick look and these are the cheapest 9" and 10" I could find! ;)

I am looking for as good a spec as possible. Quad Core, 2Gb RAM and at least a 1200 x 800 resolution. My focus has now passed to Samsung Galaxy Note's - I've found a mint, 3 month old example locally for £190. That'll do me!

I bought myself an Asus MeMo Pad at Laptops Direct for Christmas, and am fairly happy with it! Plays movies with pretty good quality, music sounds good and serves as a good e-reader too. Not very happy with the battery life though, if you've got apps like Facebook on it, you'll be looking at a black screen quicker than you'd like... But all in all it's fine, if you're looking for a not too very expensive tablet. :)

They have a sale going on now by the way, I saw a voucher code on voucherbox.co.uk for Asus tablets on Laptops Direct... Might be worth checking out!
