Diesel ECU Problem..

I've the dreaded 'EP' on the dash of my fathers' Diesel Auto CDTi(135),

Looks like due to our friends Ciara, Dennis and Jorge passing through the valleys the ECU has gone for a swim!

I've taken it out, cleaned it and drying it as I type, but as I could see the 'tide' mark I'm not very hopeful.

It seems the n/s plenum drain was partially blocked, and parked sideways to the hill as it was the drain on the other side just couldn't keep up with the deluges we've had over the last month or so. :duh:

Does anyone have an NNN100720 ECU (135 or 160 ;) ), transponder & chip available if this one is banjaxed?

TIA
Ben.

I'd speak to your nearest T4 guy as they can program a virginised one in and it will all match the car, much better than fitting a kit. I can provide a virginised ecu if needed. You could also take the opportunity to replace it with an NNN500340 and gain EOBD capabilities :)

You never know once it's dried out it may just be ok ;)

If it doesn't then drop me p.m. I can test it for you, if possible repair it or if necessary provide a service replacement, that will be plug and play ready coded to your car. I do a quick turnaround postal service too.

Bigruss is the new ecu master repairer! I’m sure he can also sort you out a remap if it does need replacing :).

I’d say if it does work, get the car over to Russ anyway for him to give it a proper check over and to confirm the ecu has survived and isn’t slowly dying!

I was kind of going off what the expert says ;). I know that it would also need a ZCS change and you can’t just plug a 500340 in.

Sorry I'm afraid a ZCS recode won't do it, the 500340 tune looks for the 2nd IAT, if it's not there puts on the engine warning lamp ;)

Thanks for the compliment, but I'm not the "new" expert on the ECU's I've been doing it all along, Brian and myself worked on the ECU reprogramming and repair along with the development of the 160 maps ;)
In fact I was the one who sorted out the problem with the NNN100693 that even Bosch couldn't figure out ;)
I was also the first to really go into reconfiguring things by changing the ZCS coding, obtaining the proper BMW coding and checksum calculators cost me a great deal of money back in 2008 ;)

What is a IAT ?
Intercooler Air Temperature sensor ?

Good question, an IAT is an Inline Air Temperature sensor ;)

The later cars that run the NNN500340 have an additional one as well as the one in the MAF located in an aluminium insert in the intercooler pipe just before the EGR valve.

The additional one is supposed to help balance out the fuelling by comparing the air inlet temperature either side of the intercooler and adjusting accordingly;)
