Engine Flush?
Evening all.
So, servicing my 75 favelift (CDTI) on friday, after promisig myself for weeks. As I don't know the history of the car, would anyone recomending using an engin flush? I don't like the thought of thinning oil out in any way but tbh it'll be cheap old NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- that's in there no doubt. Whey what's left of it anyhow as orings on intercooler had gone. Cheers. |
Flush it with normal engine oil that you intend to use afterwards.
Fill with new oil, replace oil filter, drive couple of hundred miles and then replace with new filter and fresh oil. There's really no need for anything else these days. You really wanted, you could do it again after couple of hundred miles. |
Throw in flush, every good garage up here does it including us with tractor engines. I know some will warn against it but the oil stays cleaner for longer after doing it

I seem to remember that sworks (Mark) told me that Rover put out a directive that Engine flush should not be used on the 1.8T .Perhaps he will confirm.

I always used a good quality engine flush when I don't know the history of the car, when I removed the cracked sump from the diesel the inside of it was nice and clean following the use of the engine flush.

In my opinion if the engine is cream crackered nothing in a bottle will put it right.
If the engine is a good un, it won't need flushing. |

+1 for Comma Flush Out.
Works a treat. I've used various "additives" before draining also. This thread makes interesting reading. https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...d.php?t=291375 Whether using a flush or not I'd definitely change the oil & filter. I'd be doing the fuel filter, the air filter and probably the pollen filter as well. Oh, and a brake fluid change. :D. Andy. |
Many thanks for the replies people. On balance I think I'm gonna give it a bash, More out of curiosity than anything.
Stay safe and if yas can't be good...! |
