PCV filter

Today, finally got time to do it - PCV filter done, not before time as well!! It was well clogged!!!

I replaced the whole unit, this time, but can you get just the filter?

Or is it advisable to replace the whole thing?

And how often should it be changed?

Any help, as usual, very much appreciated :D

You can just purchase and change the filter on its own. (Available BMW and Land Rover)
Some actually attempt to clean it (not recommended)
Change at 15.000 to 24,000 miles (BMW recommend every major service in their schedules for the Diesel Power Plant)

BMW also do a new type of filter now which i believe is meant to be much more longer lasting.

Thanks for that John. Just done the re-set on the inspection count-down, so when it gets to zero, new filter and oil and ............

As for cleaning it? Not a job I would like to try, totally gunged up!! I kept the housing as that may be re-useable. I do not suppose, in your infinite wisdom, you know the BMW part number for the longer-lasting filter?;)

Also replaced the missing jacking point and glued with Gorilla Glue (the No-Nails failed on one, the other three are still stuck firm, so now a competition... No-Nails v. Gorilla glue:))

Fitted the sponges over the plenums again (one of the garages lost mine last year!!) Changed the pollen filter, what a job, totally forgot about how those little plugs fly!!! Good job I had a couple spare ;)

So all in all, a pleasant Sunday afternoon:D
