Near side front suspension issue

Hi all
I'm getting a loud and quite unpleasant clunk for of the nsf suspension which occurs if you hit a speed bump a little to quickly, it seems to be present as you pass over the bump, so not on the compression of the strut but the re extention of it. My gut says knackered damper but any opinions and experience much appreciated.
I haven't been under there yet but it's only a couple thousand miles since I checked all the ball joints when I changed the clutch.

Thanks
Jon.

Check anti roll bar rubbers, drop link joints, top of struts/bearings and wishbone rubbers.

Could be the D bush inside the damper; but I'd say more than likely the top mount etc...

Fingers crossed though it's just an ARB bush or similar, a cheaper/easier fix

Drop links/ top mount on strut.

Track rod end? I've just had one of mine replaced after it developed knocks as described. But of course, a suspension knock could be from anything that moves.

Thanks chaps, I'll try and investigate this weekend and report back.

Aswell as the items already mentioned:
If you changed the clutch, it's worth re-checking the pinch bolt (nut & bolt) that secures the bottom ball joint to the hub.
Personally, I'd put my money on drop link but you never know.

I've recently change my lower arms; I had clunking on rough ground. I couldn't find anything loose during inspection, so I was a bit concerned that the balljoints weren't the problem, but once changed, there was a great improvement. I hope it's anti-roll-bar bushes, but don't rule out the balljoints.

Thread moved to a more appropriate forum. Re-direct left in old. This may be the better forum as threads get ‘lost’ very quickly in the General Forum. ;)

I had something similar, and it was accompanied by 'chattering' when braking at certain speeds. It was the inner tie rod ball joint
