Not yet Ross, I'll consider it a success, once I've figured out the Telestart 80, and the cubby box timer :drool4:

Next on the list once I'm happy the FBH runs reliably ;)

Brian :D

Quite a bit and it's only lunchtime.

Drove the 100 miles home after ten days working away and took the car in for it's MOT...
Failed on a sidelight, bulb replaced and now have a years grace with three advisories that I will sort out in due course.

Really pleased as I am enjoying the car.

Wife took the 75 into her work today for a 'once over' pending it's mot, found that the front and rear lower arm bushes are pretty much shot to bits! apparently it was the cause of the slight knocking I've been getting when gently applying the brakes at very low speeds. So ... booked in for next week to have sorted plus the tech boys are going to go through the whole underside and running gear for any other potential issues.

Busy day today....

Polished a set of projectors that I had spare with the 3m kit. Came out good.😅

Tackled the silver saloon, my Rover No 1 ....
- Removed front bumper.
- Removed the Xenons and replaced with the freshly polished projectors.
- Replaced the knackered gold resistor with a new one supplied by Jules. Well, old one had been on for over 5 years, so not bad.
- protected the headlight wiring from chaffing on the chassis with some heavy self amalgamating tape.
- checked lights operation....dipped bulb was out on passenger side, ☹️ so went hunting for spares, and fitted with whatever I could find to hand.
- Rechecked all lights were working and Fan running before replacing the bumper.
(Fitting those self tapping bumper screws had to be the hardest part of the job).🤬
- Polished the removed Xenons with the remnants of the 3M kit.

Then tackled “Marmite”.....
- Front bumper off...The job I was least looking forward to, in case I damaged the paintwork.. All ok.😄😅
- removed the projectors that were a bit faded. Not bad, but i wanted to put the freshly cleaned Xenons in.😄
- changed EGR valve with a clean one I had spare.
- removed old intercooler hoses.😰 What a mess!
- cleaned up various pipes that that had been coated with years of oil mist from failed intercooler o- rings.😳
- replaced intercooler o-rings and hoses. I’ve done it before with the bumper on, but IMO its best done with the bumper off. Enables you to tap the 90 deg elbow into place with a hammer & screwdriver on the flange, to assist better seating of the upper o-ring.
- more headlight wiring protection with self amalgamating tape.
- cable tied the power steering pipe out of the way, to prevent rubbing on the AC pipe.
- put clean Xenons on.
- bumper back on, and again...those pesky self tappers 😡. (Although I see Marinabrian had used Stainless self tappers, which was a nice touch).😄
Also nice to see the gold resistor had been replaced recently 👍.
- put a few extra psi in the serpents, which must be leaking slightly. Doesn’t really matter, as they’re due a refurb and some new rubber.

Took the silver saloon for a jaunt (now very dark) to check what the bulbs were like in the previously restored projectors. Turns out they were pish, so will need changing.🙄🙄

Now relaxing....🍺🍺🍺

Finished late, so still need to tidy away the tools tomorrow.🙄🙄

Also Might change the serpents to.....something less asthetic, so I can get the serpents refurbed.

Where does it end? 🤭🤭🤭🤭

Yeah..one of those days where you had to do step 1, before doing step 2, what you really wanted to do.
And once the bumper(s) were off...well, you know how it is.🙄

Yesterday sprayed all window channels and door seals on both cars with silicone spray to stop them sticking and freezing, Copperleaf was hesitant starting on Wednesday checked battery voltage, 11.7 volts. Alternator 14.1 volts. Battery off and on charge for a day, not yet a year old. Must make a point of going more than 1.6 miles each way to work, needs a regular once a week drive.

Your battery isn't a LION battery from eurocarparts is it?

Brunty 20th January 2019 11:03

No it's a genuine Bosch 56amp.
