Continued the rebuild of my ZTT it’s new inner and outer track rod ends, new front upper arm mounting bushes, which means the complete front suspension has now been replaced.
Did the rear swing arm bushes but had the wrong parts for the anti roll bar (now on order) so that’s all that’s outstanding to complete the rear suspension rebuild (cheers for doing most of it TRikey)and also sent the wrong handbrake cables!
Moved onto painting all suspension and subframes with hammerite followed by schultzing the the entire underside 3 times then waxoil into the lower arms and sills.
Finally lifted the slam panel to improve the shut lines and fit of front bumper.

To say I’m knackered is an understatement.

I had help from my tame mechanic Carl Davies at esplanade garage in Scarborough who I can highly recommend he’s rapidly becoming an expert on these car from all the work I get him to do😀 and he’s very reasonably priced

Removed the front seats, carefully extracted the contacts from the SRS wiring plugs, and scraped them clean, polished with scotchbrite, then tweaked the female contacts with a safety pin, before wiping a smear of petroleum jelly into each of them.

Reassembled the contacts into the housings, and plugged everything back together, turned the ignition key and hey presto no more airbag lamp.

Bolted the seats back in, give the sill repairs a quick going over with panel wipe, then painted over the primer with a coat of LEF with a 2" paint brush.

It's going in for test on Monday, I can't stand the sight of the dreariness and utter drabness of Disappointing Grey any longer, and can't wait to get Frosty back on the drive to cheer up the place with a splash of colour :drool4:

LEF :puke:

Finished painting some small rust spots on Kims floor pan. Looked at the boot and spare wheel well that I painted two days ago. Thought about a second coat to get rid of the overbrushing streaks (I'm not a painter :D )
Decided to leave it for now cos it's a back breaking job.

Polished Mo and Kims headlights with a new bottle of Tcut I got from B&Q. It's white, and I swear it smells like the polishing compound in the 3M headlight restoration kit. They came up lovely ;)

Next job is to scrape the rust off Kims radio unit connectors, and fit a new male aeriel connector to the coax cable.

Then tomorrow I'll put Kims new carpet in, and refit all her innards :D

Cleaned up the previously refurbished back end, I was going to replace the brake discs until I realised the ones I have are fronts?!?

Spent the day at Krown in Birmingham getting the car coated. It's not everyone's choice, but I wanted to give it a go as I like the idea its clear. Rob seemed to know our cars very well, and he was very enthusiastic. The floor will be getting dripped on in my garage for a fair few days. I go back in 6 months for a free inspection and top up. In the sills, doors, boot lid, bonnet, chassis legs, subframes etc are all sprayed. Wheels off, arch liners off, engine tray off and so on. Even the boot floor. Got my new light seals fitted at the same time. Time will tell but happy with it so far! next job when I get back off my hols is paint the calipers with the paint trikey recommended. I have it here and waiting, but its time for a break at the caravan, so Blue has been put to bed. (Can't have 3 westies on my fragile none leather seats hahaha)
