Ztt 180 auto new water pump and thermostat still overheating
Hi
I hope someone can help me. I recently acquired an mg as in the title.. And I'm having overheating trouble. Its just had a new thermostat, water pump and belts but still doing it when on the drive home... Going uphill /sat on traffic, it shoots up. It doesn't seem to overheat at idle It seems much happier with the heater blowing hot and full. The top rad pipe is hot. Rad itself is cold Fan comes on as expected I ran the engine with the cap off when up to temp and after a few minutes it now water out like a volcano! Could it be as simple as an airlock (please!!) Garage say maybe the oil cooler? Thanks for any advice or opinion |

Sounds like a head gasket in any case.:getmecoat:
But I can only recommend that the radiator gets flushed out, with water and compressed air, both ways. I had persistent overheat problems in my latest MGF, especially at higher speed!! Fans were working (for radiator and also for the engine bay) did not lose water and heater hot. Turned out the radiator was full of scale rust particles, I guess about two spoon full of them!! After flushing both engine, engine oil and engine bay temperatures dropped. I guess the oil temperature dropped about 10 degrees. So definitely worth a try! I collected the water in a white bucket and it was easy to see what came out!! |
