Autobox Fluid Change from cold
Having just swapped an autobox onto a new engine I now need to refill the fluid. All the service info says it needs to be done at operating temperature so the fluid has chance to expand to get the right level.
Obviously I need to get some fluid in there first before starting the engine so need to add some whilst it is cold. Any ideas? Do I add a few litres and risk it being under filled or fill to the level and risk it being overfilled. Obviously once it is up to temp we can adjust as necessary. I reckon we lost about 4 litres when we drained it before removal. |
Following the one out one in rule Jim, put 4 litres back in :)

That is my thinking as well, only trouble is I don't know if the bloke before me had it filled correctly!
What could possibly go wrong, it's only a gear box! :D:D:D |
As you say, impeccable service history and its only for a short while. I drained mine and took about 4 ltr out, so you wont be far out
