I know Jon, we've had this conversation before. I don't have any alloy scaffolding tube and I'm not sure that Retap does either. :shrug: I also prefer to drive safe in the knowledge that my suspension arms are tightened to the specified torque. :wink2:

I dont plan to remove the roll bar and yeah no scaffolding tube also hate getting into secondary faults like that so only if absolutely necessary...... Always managed to get the bolts tight but not with a torque wrench just as tight as they will go with a single push using my foot at the end just enough so i can get them off again one day lol.


The problem i had with this side last time is getting the bush bolts started straight it took a second set of hands to manipulate the bush to prevent it pulling the bolts off centre. Last time i mashed the threads in the sub frame so do have the right tap on hand if needed but I havent get that far today. :mad:


Bit annoyed with Rimmers sending me a bush that ripped itself apart as to tight to fit onto the arm... :shrug: Last two times the bush has pressed on nicely using loads of washing up liquid and my significant weight on it. NOT THIS TIME Im trying to calm down before contacting Rimmers...

I use a small G clamp to gently hold the bush housing flat against the subframe, then with a small mirror above the hole tap the housing into place. Once the first bolt is in but not tight remove the G clamp, align the second hole and bolt it up.

The last time i did this it was 30C middle of summer heatwave, i think i was struggling with that at the time and just feel things will go better this time if i can just get a bush on the arm lol.



Last time i couldnt find a way to get the Gclamp to stay put but got mirror and clamp ready, will find the way once i get a bush that will go on the arm without ripping itself to pieces. Knew it was to tight today couldnt even get it started easy on the edge of the arm with smaller radius. Another day lost..... happy thought is still got 7 working days to get done for MOT retest. challenge accepted lol

Good god now i got Rimmers asking for VIN code to ensure they sent the right bush lol yes its right handed as it should be but to tight to press on :duh: As far as i know there is only two types of lower arm bush available for our cars, right handed and left handed....:duh::duh::duh:

If I remember I G clamped over the rear bolt hole and fitted the front bolt. Had the G clamp tight enough to hold the housing in place but loose enough to be able to move it with a hammer.

Hats off to Rimmers they have dispatched a replacement bush at no cost and little fuss. I have a found a small variance on the arm using my eyes and a caliper. where the bush is supposed to sit it seems to be almost 28mm but on the edge its 29mm so i got little filing to do maybe.



Ordered another moog bush as well they seem to go on alright but might not last however needs must got to draw an end to this saga lol.

The cheapo set I shall keep though not needed at present now however the Sealey has to go back sadly. Note the size differences side by side, the cheapo set has 2" and 3" plates whilst the sealey is bigger still maybe helpful to know one day lol.
