AppleWorks/ClarisWorks

I may have asked this question before during an earlier PC rebuild, but searching doesn't find it.

Begrudgingly, I've gone with progress and updated my desktop PC to Windows 10 (whilst still a free download, via a cheap Win7 from ebay). During the rebuild, which involved installing a new motherboard/processor/RAM, (I was installing on an empty HDD), the original HDD containing XP and all my programs, but no data, failed and corrupted the install. Although I have now just about got everything up on Win 10, I am missing AppleWorks which I need to have for my trainspotting database. I do have a much older version (when it was known as ClarisWorks) on cd, but had previously downloaded the AppleWorks version, which Apple dropped some time back. I know it is out there on the web, does anyone know where?

Hi Stewart,
Don't know if this of any use but,,,
When my old xp pc died and wouldn't reboot,I was without all that stuff on there,so I bought a new windows 7 enabled pc+bought one of those portable hard drive cases, then put my old xp hard drive into it,,then just connected it via usb to my new computer,,coincidentally it had a train simulator and an aircraft simulator on it as well as all my photos.
Anyway I was able to access everything on it through my new computer just by plugging it in and using it as an extra hard drive.
Hope this helps,
Ken

Seems like the right program for PC use, but last time I downloaded it for free as it was obsolete.
Thanks anyway, Stewart

If all else fails, it might be worth a bash

Hmmm Windows 10, big mistake (unless you like targeted adverts and being spied on - 68 parts of Win 10 report your information back to MS, some of which can't be disabled).

Moved to the technology section as the thread won't drop down the page as quick

Clarisworks

Here we have all versions of ClarisWorks. On this site AppleWorks is only the Mac version. The current issue of WebUser has a feature on running old software in Windows 10 so might be worth getting a copy. That said, old PCs are worth next to nothing, I'd consider getting a second hand machine off Ebay for £10 or £20 just for this purpose. :smilie_re: https://winworldpc.com/product/clarisworks/5x

It isn't the PC, or even Claris, that is my problem. It is the lack of AppleWorks software to install on the PC. I know I downloaded a copy legally a few months back, just can't find the site again. I do have older CW cds, but would prefer the AW version again.

Ok, I understand, still I did try and install ClarisWorks 5 under Windows 10 yesterday just out of interest, however the Installer wouldn't even run. Did you try and install the older ClarisWorks? If you do find the AppleWorks and have problems still then this was recommended in the magazine I mentioned (though I haven't tried it). Could be useful: https://www.virtualbox.org/ Lets you run older windows within an application. Will
