Wheels.

My car (Rover 75) came with these wheels fitted. They have MG wheel centres but are they actually OEM MG wheels, or just generic aftermarket wheels with MG centre covers?

They are 17" wheels and have 215- 50- ZR17 tyres fitted. I'm thinking of sourcing some 16" Rover wheels to replace them partly because I prefer the look of them but also I think the ride would be better with more tyre and less wheel especially as I live down a fairly long and bumpy farm track. Is this a correct assumption?

What other advantages/ disadvantages would there be to changing wheel size? And finally is there likely to be a second-hand market for these to offset the cost of buying Rover wheels (or would anyone be interested in a swap?)

Thank you. So these do appear to be original equipment star spoke alloys just with MG centre caps?

Certainly are, going down a size or two will improve the ride quality as the tyres will be a lot thicker. I went the other way, 16" Unions to 18" 11 spokes, allied to Eibach Pro lowering springs.

Hello Vincent. I have a set of 16" Union alloy wheels with tyres should you be interested. :}

I do like the union alloy wheels, can you tell me more?

Hello Vincent. They are a set of four. Three of them have RoadX tyres fitted. One has a Hankook fitted which I bought new earlier this and has done around 100 miles.

I will get some pictures over to you in a message. :}

Same as that, good to meet someone so passionate about the 75 and ZT, I'm very jealous of your collection but I bet your neighbours think you are slightly mad. ;)

Very pleased with the wheels, started doing a deep clean today but I will wait until I have a day off work to fit them as I might as well adjust the handbrake cogs and have a general clean up while I'm at it.

Thanks again.

No 'slightly' about it, but it doesn't bother me. Happy to be different. :bigsmile:
