Key fob not working

Hi All,

I'm having a problem with my key fob. I've had the car 6yrs with no problems with the fob. I'm not sure if I have replaced the fob battery in the past but suddenly last night the remote locking stopped working. Car can lock/unlock from inside and outside by the key with no problem.

* I've changed the battery this morning to rule out low/dead battery. Fob led still lights up when lock/unlock button is pressed.
* Checked fuse (F14), not blown
* All other electrics are fine (radio, all windows, mirrors, lights)
* No other symptoms noticed

Can anyone suggest what to do next?

Thanks!

No luck!

I tried disconnecting the battery for 30mins, this 'Norwegian' method whilst the battery was disconnected and checked the bcu fuses mentioned in the Haynes manual before reconnecting. Is there anything else to try?

Try it in a different location.

Still no luck - I tried it when I picked the kids up from school, about 4miles from my house. Nothing!!

Its starting to annoy me now!

Fortunately I was able to resolve my issue as per the link above. It was suggested that a T4 session should be the next step if it had persisted elsewhere.

There is a second fuse for the bcu which also.covers the battery back.up siren.

I cannot recall the number of it, but perhaps 42, or 46. In desperation I removed all the fuses one by one to check them.

My symptoms were not locking or unlocking with the remote. Resetting by disconnecting the car battery worked initially and then reverted once the car had started. Once the fuse was replaced, all was good.

If you try this, and it works for you, check if you have a battery back up siren instead of the standard alarm.horn (if you have factory fitted xenons you will have the bbus). If you do have a bbus, and the fuse fixed the issue, check if your alarm operates (if not, replace with a bini or bmw siren ) .

I am convinced that the failure of this due to.corrosion lead to the fuse blowing in my car.
