Webasto heater questions.
 

Hi all, I have the opportunity of buying a webasto heater but just the heater, should they come with a remote or timer?

If they don't is it get-roundable?

Also it's to go on a mk2 zt cdti on an 04, would this be plug and play as far as underbonnet wiring is concerned?

Have a word with Devlish or Trebor on here they're the gurus on FBHs .

But the wiring should be there by the battery box for the standard set up.

You'll need a dosing pump too.

Thanks Scott, just read a post of yours on another forum asking about FBH's too.....

I think the car may have had an FBH before as the coolant pipes have been bridged by some very non-genuine looking pipe inserts.

Could this be the case? Where is the doser pump located please? OSR wheelarch?

If I don't have a timer unit inside the centre console armrest compartment does that mean I've never had a FBH?

They don't come with remote or timer, that was an extra. Yes they are plug and play but the cct boards are known to be a problem. These can be repaired, Devilsh or frenchmike can fix them. Another problem area are the glow plug and are expensive to replace, if you can test it with an ohm meter first you will have an idea if it is good or not.

if you don't have a timer then the heater will only come on when the car s started and the temperature is below I think 5 degrees.
no timer just means there is no timer :) The car may still have had a FBH

you can manually start the fbh by earthing one of the wires, we will need to know which model before we can tell you which pin to earth

Thanks macafee, the bloke reckons it was working fine when removed, it was taken from a Freelander, unfortunately it's miles away so can only take a punt on it.

Do you mean model of car removed or fitting to or model of FBH?

The webasto is a thermo top c if that makes a difference?

The wiring for the FBH should be in place down the side of the batter as in the photo below.

Dosing pump wiring will be found under the fuel filter plate under the rear seat.

In front of the rear OS wheel you will find the bracket and the pipe the dosing pump fits to.

Original timer can be retro fitted but is a time consuming job.

As above drop Steve (Devlish) or Rob (trebor ) a Pm they wil help you or point you in the right direction.

Hi i personally i wouldn't bother with the timer just fit a remote these can be a simple on off operated from a seperate fob or a full blown SMS set up off your mobile. Can also be set up to bring the ATC on too which makes it toasty inside.

As Arctic says drop the guys a PM they have ripped a fair few apart and have a full test bench. Can supply and fit the remotes too.

Their based in Cannock well worth a trip to see them.

model of fbh, there are two models for our car and when it comes to earthing one of the pins so you can start it whenever you like it does make a difference.

Ask for the model number and post it here, someone will probably be able to tell you if it will be ok for a Rover 75

Thanks everyone for your help so far.

Yeah that's the dream, either SMS or timer, the idea being I do shift work, 5am start, live semi-suburbanly so coming out to a warm fully defrosted car in the winter sounds pretty appealling!

I'm not sure the guy selling knows much about it, but there are pics with the label info showing, what numbers do I need please?

I will also try the guys you've recommended.
