Rear door won't open

Here's a tricky question: the rear door won't open from outside, and worse: I accidentally pressed the child lock, and now it won't open either way! If you have the answer, please let me know!

Got a idea that the only way you're going to solve your problem is to remove the door card, or at least force open enough of a gap to get your hand inside and access the white clip lever. A picture here from Stocktake: https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...33&postcount=4

You could try removing the rubber window seal and go fishing with some stiff wire.

Good luck

I seem to remember if you can manage to pull the door seal off on the inside with the door closed, then you can manage to get in to de activate the child lock ;). (cannot remember if I had to do this on the 75 or the 600):o
If this not possible then its a real issue.
You will need to remove the door card with the door closed and then you will see the white clip that is wrapped around the threaded bar in the post on my other thread. you will need to unclip the white clip and refit it so there are less threads showing out of the bottom of the clip. hopefully this will allow you to open the door from the outside.

As above you need to get the door card off, so first remover the little screw inside the handle after removing the plastic plug, then remove the window switch.

With both the above removed try snatching the door card towards you with an upwards motion at the same time, if you are lucky this may well loose the top part of the door card, you can then slowly work your way round the door card edge.

once you have the door open enough or even off you will need to release the white clip, which you will find behind a damp cover.

feel through the door and flip open the clip with your fingers and thumb.

White clip opening

I think most of us have had a door that will not open due to the white clip being out of line on the threaded bar.

It is always closed around the thread.

We want to open it so we can open the door then adjust the clip to work all the time.

With the lock inside there is not much room to flip this clip open, today i tried a trick with a 5p coin & a 1p coin.

Imagine the clip is locked round the bar inside the door as here below.

Armed with the coins 5p or 1p which ever you have.

Use either coin and insert it into the clip from the rear.

Now push the coin forward as far as you can, it will pop open the clip tried it a few times and worked every time.

Here is a little video using the coin the the bench.

That is a brilliant solution, and so simple. The video enables anyone to understand and execute it.

Just a thought: Will Rover doors be like armchairs as a source of small change?
