Another Airbag question...
Airbag message on dash. Comes on after starting car, and then turns off.
Checked both yellow and blue connectors under both seats. Used contact cleaner, and switched them on and off several times. Still the message on when starting. Also found a connector not switched anywhere under driver's seat (LHD). Seat has memory adjust, so guess that switch is there for no memory layout, as couldn't find where to connect it. Members here have used THESE to good effect. It may also be the crash sensors under the carpet. You will need access to a T4 diagnostic system to confirm without replacing parts. Are your plenums clear and carpets dry? Even though you live in Canary Islands, you will still have a little rain. If the plenums are blocked, and the water gets below the carpet, it may be little water, so you may never get to notice it, but it could still be enough to do the damage to the sensors over time. Owned the car for the last two months. Checked plenums, and it's dry at the moment, but don't know if there's been water in the past, as it was blocked. Have no access to T4 diagnosis, so it's time to study those threads. Thanks again. Regards |
The seat belt warning circuit also includes the 'clock spring' mechanism behind the steering wheel. If the under-seat connectors prove to be definitely OK, I'd suggest exploring the 'clock spring'. The deactivated warning light suggests the fix is not that easy to do.

No sunroof, so one less problem to worry about. Polen filter was changed before purchase, so don't know its previous condition. I will change blue and yellow connectors as a first step and see what happens. If that fails, I'll probably come back for further advice. Regards |

As you have no access to a T4, have you thought about getting Toaf?
http://toaf.roverki.eu/index.php/en/ almost like a T4, or perhaps a poor man's T4 but invaluable to us who don't live in the UK. It can help a lot with diagnostics especially things like ABS & SRS. Our cars in Sweden don't have any seatbelt warnings either. Regards |
