Side Light Fault
Sorry all, this is a bit lower league, my nearside front side light appeared not to be working and the fault was highlighted by the fault light on the dash.
Eventually, I got the bulb out though it looked okay, and I replaced it with a new bulb, this did not work either. It's one bulb, so I wasn't looking for a fuse fault. Tried both the bulbs linked but out of the socket, but neither would illuminate. The terminals are clean and not corroded. I realize that this will lead to the bumper coming off, but are there any suggestions as to the route of the wiring please and possible connections? |

A severe case: https://www.mediafire.com/convkey/c1...go872o156g.jpg The nearside harness crosses the sharp welded seam. Vibration does the rest. This typically causes issues with the nearside headlamp system. The hot spot is forward of the screen wash reservoir. TC |
:flog: sadly, having taken the bumper surround off, so that I could check the wiring; taken out the air filter and hoses, I could not find any chafing (that's not a swear word, though I was using them) evidence. Due to the wiring differential, I might as well be colourblind.
The internal wires to the bulb are only red and black. The wiring coming in to the multiplug is of many colour combinations. Logically, those coming in serve different purposes. All fuses and relays in the engine bay fuse box are okay, though I never imagined that one would only serve one light bulb. I really cannot imagine a dodgy wire being anywhere but from the light unit to the loom. The wiriing diagrams that i've found vary, and don't exactly let me pin down one wire. Covered it all up and will have another go tomorrow. |

Easy to get out and check. I sprayed the pins in the socket with WD 40 and it's worked perfectly ever since.--- |
