Tyres low profile
Hi ....anybody had experience of fitting low profile tyres to a standard wheel .
Mine is a 2004 114cooking conny.....usually on 195/65 r15 been offered winter tyres of 195/50/r15 Any advice please Thanks Trevor |
It will be fine, you will just feel a few more bumps as the profile is less.

A quick look at a profile calculator shows that a 10% speedo error will be introduced.
60mph will indicate as 66mph etc. |
Buy a pump up cushion for your seat.---

The tyres will fit fine but that is a significant change in diameter and circumstance so it will alter your speedo reading and drop your fuel economy slightly. I wouldn't bother.

As others have said, the speedo will be affected by it as well as the mileometer.
You would be better leaving the standard depth tyres on or buy larger standard wheels with tyres which would cost less than replacing the current ones with low profiles. |
Do you actually want winter tyres ? :xmas-smiley-008:

Hi Trevor,
I've seen this done on other cars and aesthetically it looks very odd because the wheel/tyre size is too small for the wheelarch. You really need to increase your wheel size with lower profile tyres which has the added benefit of maintaining the speedo's reading. You will get a noticeably rougher ride though, particularly with the state UK roads are in. :( Simon |
