I look forward to seeing how the job turns out, as I will be looking to have my Marina Convertible painted later on in the year, and for me a quality job is worth travelling for.

I certainly won't be using the last person who painted a car for me, as I would like the car painted properly, and no skimping on preparation.

When it comes to the paint refinishing, you are only as good as your last job, and I wasn't impressed sadly.......

Brian :D

Well it’s all part of the deal regarding the screens.

Good luck with the Marina’s re-paint.

As Teflon has mentioned Bob, the rust starts from behind the door uprights, where the inner sections are spot welded on. Unfortunately, the black paint can't get into the joint, but moisture does, and hey presto....corrosion
Use a thin rust proofing fluid like Dinatrol & allow it to seep into the joints on the new finishers before letting A&M fit them ;)

Marinabrian is completely correct, you only need to get the finishers removed to paint it properly. Removing & refitting the screens brings the risk that they might just leak after refitting. So if the car is currently dry & leak free, I'd ask them to only remove the trims but leave the screens in place. I'm sure they will understand this.

Lastly, I can vouch for the quality of their finished jobs Brian, I collected a Stag from them a couple of months back and the paintwork was like glass, mirror finish and a truly stunning depth to the shine. I couldn't fault it. You get what you pay for... :D

I will have to get some darker sunglasses for when I pass by Bob to protect my eyes :)

Cheers Bob, the fact they are in Plymouth isn't a concern for me, in fact it's a bonus as the car was coachbuilt by Mumfords of Plymouth......so it can be considered a homecoming for the lad.

I look forward to seeing Banana in her new skin :drool4:

Many thanks for the tip Paul I will speak to the garage prior to our visit.

Brian you will be welcome at anytime to stay over if you should wish to do so. However there will be a V8 kit car waiting to voice it’s opinion in your direction.

As a lad, my Dad test drove a hatchback Princess from Mumfords (long before the Ambassador was launched). A dark blue 2200HLS that had been converted by them, it was very luxurious compared to our old Hillman Imp :D
Must have been around 1978 at a guess ?

Brian, A&M are only about 2 miles from the old Mumfords site, unfortunately it's now a big Sainsburys :duh:

Mumfords is now a Renault Dealer, I had a search to see what it used to look like and found this article from the Herald. I'm not sure that Pan's People will still be there ;)
It's a bit before my time but is that an Austin Princess they are standing beside?
