Is it worth painting drop links?
I purchased some Mayle HD drop links after the Lemforders failed within a year. The rubber boots around the roll bar end are not a tight fit on the stubs, and only had weak rubber bands securing them rather than the usual metal spring clips.
The Mayle look better, but are they worth painting? If these dont last the year either seems a waste of time. https://i.imgur.com/IVCrM7h.jpg?1 |
Cosmetics really. If you want it to look pretty OK but if you are not bothered, it should be fine without!:getmecoat:

Not really worth the trouble.
The rubber boots.------Is there enough room to fit a cable tie ?? There are lots of different sizes. Small thin ones are easy to get. |

The old fashioned method of locking wire will re-unite the rubber to the recessed part of the pin, the rubber band efforts are really poor in my opinion.

Fitted these last year, but did put grease in the boots as seemed a bit sparse as deleivered.
Also found a good spray with clear laquer protects the plating from staining and helps the cosmetic looks :o. Also did this to my new Shockers :D C. |
If you spend loads of time looking after the topside why not look after the underside.
My 75’s were painted everywhere on the underside, it looks so much better and helps to show the MOT tester you care for your car. |
