Reading Jatco ATF temp using pscan.eu

I know that it is important to have the ATF (automatic transmission fluid) upto a certain temperature I think before checking the fluid level.

We had a comment from a customer that our tool was reading high on the ATF temperature reading which means that people would not have it warm enough.

We discovered that the reading being shown was actually for coolant temperature and not for ATF and we fixed this in pscan.eu version 0411. This was because this reading was reverse engineered from a certain (very expensive) professional tool, and they had gotten it wrong.

If you are using the tool to test ATF temperature please make sure that you are using the latest software, at least version 0411 and please make sure that you are reading ATF temp and not coolant temp.

Phil, I'm contemplating buying your scanner specifically to look at the Jatco.
How confident are you that your diags are accurate in this area?

pscan.eu 21st December 2015 11:47

Currently I would say 90% sure.
If another owner can confirm it then it will increase my confidence.
To get to 100% I would need a visit from someone with an auto 75/ZT so that I can put it on my T4 for a side by side comparison.

I'd love to nip down and let you look at mine, but I might as well just buy it, after what it'd cost me in petrol lol.

I'm glad you sorted the oil temp issue, as that's where I think the problem might be on mine.

I'll think about a purchase, but before I buy, any club discount? :icon_rolleyes:

Oops, I forgot.
What's the score if you wish to sell the unit afterwards for any reason?
Is that allowed?

Yes, I've read that, which makes me think that you can't re-sell it.
But a sale wouln't be sharing or lending and it isn't clear.
I mean, what if you only register with one computer?
That still leaves a slot.
And the page also suggests you can register more computers, but the earlier one might get locked out.

EOD, I know it seems you can't re-sell it, but I'm asking for clarification, as it affects what the product is worth to me.
After all, if I can't sort my box and decide to move the car on and don't buy another Rover, it's instantly worthless, isn't it?

Cheers for the link though :-)

When it says the freelander 1 kv6.........I presume it means the kv6 in the Zts and 75s yes ?????

Not the early kv6 in the 825s

Its pretty clear that the license is designed to discourage sharing or resale. Specifically, it claims the units memory can become "full" and no further PCs can be associated without returning the unit to the manufacturer which may incur an admin fee.

I actually want one of these, but I'm not prepared to pay £150 for one. I did set up an eBay search to email me if one becomes available - but the risk I buy a unit that's "full" and then be forced to pay the manufacturer some unspecified amount to use it again, and the fact that I often swap PCs (I used to get a new laptop every 3-6 months) put me off.

Yes you can sell it. The new owner can de-register the computers that you used and register theirs. They will not need any contact with pscan.eu LTD to achieve this, they can do it themselves.

However you ever want to buy it back off them you will also need a new laptop because they will have deregistered yours. Deregistration is permanent and non-reversible.

Yes for the ZT and 75 V6. I believe that the 825 KV6 uses a MEMS2J so I think that this will also work, it's just that I'm not aware if anyone has tried it. The 800 with the Honda V6 is not supported (at this time).

That clarifies things perfectly.
Cheers Phil

Early market research showed that some clubs were thinking of buying one to lend it out to dozens of members like a library book. This is the use case which we wanted to discourage. I don't think that we ever told anyone that they can't resell what is after all their property.

The other options would be to lock to VIN numbers, or to ask a fee per ECU which we know that legitimate customers dislike.

If you legitimately buy one of these and run into a problem and have a reasonable explanation for what happened (such as an ebay listing number) we will wipe it and basically it will cost you the postage.

If you lent it to your mates and it needs wiping then there will be an admin charge and a warning not to do that.

The reason that they haven't come up on ebay is that once people have these they don't want to let them go.

I've just mailed you Phil.

If you can get the mail back to me, I'll order one straight away.
(I have to leave for work in an hour).

Can I suggest you put a link in your sig (or even a bit of an advert) to make it easier?

pscan.eu 21st December 2015 13:39

Unfortunately although I can take payment from you, I cannot actually post anything until the post offices open after new year.

Yes, thank you Brian, I was just about to make the same point.

Phil; it is obvious from your posts that you can write and punctuate to a very high standard. You, of all people, don't need to use American slang. Please spare us! :)

Simon
