Usually one of the wires on the glass has been scratched.
There is a metal paint to make good the break. |

Halfords sell one by Granville , £11.49 electro connector paint I think , probably get it cheaper elsewhere

Cheers magnifying glass time I think or would the continuity setting on the multimeter do it?

Its near impossible to check with a multimeter as you cannot isolate each element to check them separately .

Far easier is to switch the heated window on, then use the multi meter on volts, reference to car body. One side of the rear window will be at battery volts (around 14 hopefully), and the other side at 0 volts. Where a heater element is broken the meter will read battery voltage to the break, then 0 after (on a working window the voltage will be about half battery in the middle). Although in your case, think I would start looking at the strip down the side of the window as it looks like all lines below the mid point. The silver conductive paint is quite good, but I always put a strip of insulation/masking tape either side of the lines I am repairing as it is near impossible to get a straight narrow line, like the rest of the screen, freehand.
