How do I remove bonded rear lights?
So my mk1 75 tourer has rear lights which have been bonded in using some kind of sealant. Does anyone have any advice on how I can remove them without breaking them? I have a bulb out so it’s going to need to happen at some point!
Struggling to find a replacement for a reasonable price, unless anyone out there happens to have one for sale? |

Use some 10lb - 15lb fishing line, or even some pike trace, cheese wire, start at top of the light and use a saw action working your way down it should help cut through the sealant. Take your time and the light should come away without damage, there are a few lights on the bay at the moment buy as always purchase with caution most have the lugs damaged, or the corner chipped away. |
I’ll certainly give it a shot arctic, thanks for the tip

What type of sealant would you recommend using to rebound the lights back in? I don’t want them to fall out obviously, but need to consider the fact that I’ll need to replace bulbs in the future.

Eddie i don't recommend any sealant for tourer rear lights, always best to fix the brackets etc. https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...d.php?t=140854 |
Thanks arctic. I don’t suppose you can do anything about the missing tinypic photos which are missing can you?

Eddie i can try and find them on the drive somewhere  |
Lovely thanks mate. I’ve used a few of your how to’s so far and they’ve been an enormous help.
I barely don’t know one spanned from another (in fact I borrow my neighbours!) and I’ve still managed to get the jobs done. So I really appreciate what you do here. |
The job was easier than I thought. The two screw fixings closest to the tailgate were broken and instead held fixed by s big blob of sealant. The two ball and sockets were fine. So I just repeated what the previous guy did (after replacing all of the bulbs to be on the safe side!)
