Mg zt-t scrap yard bound
Gutted but at this rate I will be scrapping my zt after 2 weeks of owning her clutch issues (new one fitted ) but now the mechanic can't bleed it I don't have anymore money I'm gutted
|
Good god is it that bad, I thought I had problems I guess it's not drivable. If I can't be bled it'll probably be the slave but he'll know that and should have said to get a new one when getting the clutch unless there was proof of one recently fitted.
Surely you don't need to scrap it! |
Am in PM conversation with OP and will go over to his if wanted
if the worst comes to the worst, its a gear box off job to check slave. With the weather the way it is, I hope OP has a garage :) suggest seeing if master to fitting mid way can be bleed first macafee2 |
Don't laugh
The slave and master were replaced in 2016 they were not the issue
The issue was the "mechanic" was trying to bleed via the break master not the clutch master under the pedel it's now sorted I hope I'm going to collect her tomorrow Then find a different mechanic to fit the top mount that needs doing |
Couldn't help myself , I laughed.
Please don't let him near your brakes. Might be worth posting where the garage is so others can avoid. Stan |
It's a mobile mechanic I thought all the hydraulic were gone as all this NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- happened after I ran over ther rubber off of a truck tyre

After the help I received I will pay for a membership when I get paid

This will sound very rude (or, at least, unsympathetic) but ZT's were and are not the cheapest cars to run. Their size and complexity makes them poor candidates for those who are new to car DIY and lazy sods like myself who don't enjoy laying on my back in the rain trying to undo some nut that's not been moved for 15 or more years.
Many of us on here are fortunate not to have to sacrifice food on the table to pay for car repairs and I would hope that Russel can get a few months of trouble-free motoring from his ZTT before the next crisis. And, if he does have to accept defeat, don't just chuck it in for scrap as there's bound to be someone on here who could take the problem away at a fair price. No offence intended. |
are you sure we can not change the mount?
Never done it myself I hope others will advice how difficult it is. DIY, you learn, feel proud and of course, save money. macafee2 |

Lots of advice in the how to section and any problems where you need help , just ask. People have a wealth of knowledge on here and often give advice and assistance when needed. Best of all , as above , people will offer their assistance when needed. I myself needed some help after a heart attack , posted a request on here and a member(Lee t) came round to help me out. Also if you need parts , try the wanted section and the traders on here are a decent bunch. Brilliant place is this forum:bowdown: Stan |
Well I'm enjoying it here already
|
Good that you're getting it fixed ect
I was in your shoes last week and very po'd but had a think about things. I know it'll take time to get stuff done, what I can do I will but like you money is very tight and with 3 NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- cars (which is my own doing) it's worse. As you say and I better realise too, this is a great place with lots of help and advice....I too think I should pay for full membership it's only right. |

If you are stuck, give me a shout and I should be able to help you. The mounts on the diesel are not that hard to change, probably the hardest is the gearbox end - because of the boys that have to come off for access. Regards Chris |

Now "we" all know this is not true. But it is perfectly reasonable for a competent mechanic to refer to a haynes book to check a parts location. After all I feel I am a fully competent mechanic, but when I replaced the bearings in the gearbox on my wifes car I still looked in the manual to see where some things were routed/located. |

A top mount is a relatively easy job, providing you have spring compressors (as well as the confidence to use them lol) decent socket set and sockets, as well as some plus gas or other penetrating fluid. If nothing is stuck too fast, it should not take more than an hour taking your time to change each one. You dont even have to compress the spring that tight either, just enough to release its tension on the mount. Sent from my SM-A600FN using Tapatalk |

I know its in the manual and is incorrect and I believe it's been mentioned on here a few times Stan |
Just re-reading the original post, if it is the hydro mount, safe yourself a lot of effort and contact me, I have the proper tool, rather than using a hammer and punch etc.
