Reversing sensors not working

I’ve had my ZTT for a few years now and have never got round to fixing the reversing sensors which issue a single long beep on reversing and then nothing of any use. Now I’ve moved to a street where I have to parallel park in tiny spaces I’m thinking they’re something I’d find useful. Not sure what the issue is, any thoughts?

It’s a pretty standard car but does but does have an aftermarket stereo. Cheers!

Do the reverse lights work? If not, could be the switch. Check the sensors are all clicking when you select reverse, if on or more isn't, it could be that.:cool:

I had this problem on my ZT T and found that some naughty person had removed the wiring harness between the mutiplug and the sensors.
Just saying...........

The lights are fine. This is a long-standing issue from before I bought the car 6 years ago. I know the previous owner played about with it a lot but no idea why he would have disconnected the sensors. I’ll have a look when I get a chance but other thoughts welcome…

So assuming your sensors are working (you can do this by someone putting the car in reverse and get someone to put their ear up to the sensor - if its clicking its live and OK -if silent then its knackered. So you may have 4 failed sensors.

I would also look at the connector/multi plug where the sensor looms strands are brought in from the 4 sensors and then goes out to your parking ECU. I had a similar issue to you a few years ago - the sensors were live but still a long bleep. It was corrosion in the connector/multi plug whose location does leave it vulnerable to ingress of moisture.

As a hearing aid user, I found it quite difficult to hear the clicking, so I had to get a younger person to listen for me.:}

Do you not feel that a reversing aid which uses bleeps to warn of obstacles may be a bit less than ideal?

Only asking...:}

My ZTT sensors suddenly packed in a few days ago. (I know this because I very carefully reversed into a pole in broad daylight while waiting for a beep which never came!)
Just as I was thinking 'I'm pretty darned close', there was a light but ominous crunch, and I've managed to put a small crack in the rear bumper. Been too busy to investigate, but noticed this week that my reversing lights have stopped working, so many thanks for this. I think I know where to start!:bowdown:

I can hear the bleeps ok - its the clicks I can't hear !

Even if you can hear them ticking it doesn't necessarily mean that they're ok.

I've come across quite a few that just wouldn't pick up anything when hooked up to the live data on T4 on cars with the dreaded long beep ;)
