1.8 upgrade
Morning all,
I see quite a few nice base 1.8 models some in Connie spec. Is there a simple upgrade to increase the power to something approaching the 1.8T? Thanks |
Afraid not, its a cam swap to get it from 120 to 135.

The 1.8 was always relatively highly tuned as standard - so the short answer is no.
Honestly, the easiest thing to do is to swap the car for one of the more powerful versions. :) |
Hi.
120BHP from a 1.8 at the time they came out was actually pretty reasonable. Snag is the 75's dead weight. |
I find the standard 1.8 120 perfectly reasonable. It's nippy enough off the mark when needed & illegal speeds are easily reached & exceeded without fuss or drama. Factor in 400 - 450 miles from a tank & I'm more than happy with mine. Even though I'm tempted to buy a 1.8T I would buy it as a stablemate, not a replacement.
|
the only problem is that the 1.8T is in short supply as most have been broken and scrapped because of HGF which is a real shame.

I dare say that l'll find one when l'm in a position to buy one.

Let's not forget all the 1.8T engines that are being put in ZRs, ZSs and Metros.
