Councils can issue traffic fines from December.
 

Looks like PC Plod is handing over moving traffic violations to your local council & judging by this report each county council could have different rules :eek:

I've yet to see one around here go faster than 20mph.

The council here have camera vans and have done for a few years, I'm not sure what they pick up or what they are for but they are labeled up as road safety cameras, they just drive around the streets from what I can make out.

It has the council details on the side and not DSA.

The trouble with this type of "enforcement" is that it is retrospective and not preventive, meaning that the safety is not their task but the penalty placed on those recorded to have transgressed is the Local Authorities claim of success.

It's a pity that fly tipping isn't given such a priority.

Pity they don't prioritise the repair of potholes instead.

I'll be glad when they start, parking is out of control. I can sympathise that the Police don't have the manpower. Our town has no control over parking, the High st. has marked bays with spaces between to ease the flow of trffic - ignored, along with yellow lins. Most people park illegally on the pavements, which is totally wrong.

I was making a delivery on Thursday last week to the back entrance of one of my customers that you get to through an alley off a street with shops down one side and yellow lines so people dont block the alley.

After I had finished delivering I tried to get back on the road and there was a 2 year old Merc parked on the yellow lines so I was stuck. Two chaps said it was a couple with shopping bags who said they would only be 5 mins. 25 mins later they returned with several bags of shopping, I complained and they just shrugged there shoulders and said there was no where else to park,( there is but it would have cost them £2.50.)

They then placed the bags in the car and then the driver spent another 5 mins on his mobile and still didnt move so I started my van and started edging forward and eventually they took the hint.

I have taken there number plate down and reported them to the police.

I then spent the rest of the day on catch up trying to get all my deliveries done.

People like this need these fines.

What, and miss out on a clean-up job. I wonder if they have ever caught anyone fly-tipping. Plenty down the country lanes in my neck of the woods. But catching them would mean planning and allocating resources whereas copping a "local citizen" doing somethin minor on a road is easily dealt with through the eye of the camera. Trouble is, one can't vote these type of jonnies out!
