Any members from Costa Blanca Spain?
|
I don't live in Spain but have a house in Denia, I have taken my MGRV8 to Spain on a number of occasions and did use a Rover 75 to make the journey probably 20 times, we have also been in our Tf and will be taking our MGZTT this year hopefully.
|
Hi, we have a place a little further south at Coveta Fuma nr.Campello.
Usually fly out but thinking of taking the 75 down for Xmas. probably take our time and spend a while in the Pyrenees visiting some of my old motorbiking haunts :D Blackrose |
We have been at exmas a couple of times and have sunbathed on the beach on exmas day, but it gets cold as soon as the sun goes in. If we go for a short time we fly to Alicante or Valencia because it's cheaper than driving but longer stays it's better to drive. There are a couple of members on this forum with places in this part of Spain
|
Anybody going to Spain late August and where you heading,
|
Going to Alcudia on the 17th does that count.:D

Flying or driving

We would normally fly if we go for a week and drive if we are going to stay longer.

Just seen this! I did live in Valencia but sadly I am back here now! What is the parts availability like over there?!

I found the local recambios people are OK but a but they prefer straight forward requests. For instance they just couldn't get their head around why you want a Renault 5 thermostat for a rover 75. Pretty much everything I've purchased from the shop has had to be ordered in so you might as well just use Mr auto. Breakers are OK but again expensive for 2nd hand but then again most 2nd hand cars are more expensive here than the uk. |
I'll be there for September
Blackrose |
And me from 20th August to 9th September
|
Bucky if you have a car in Spain and fancy a run out drop me a PM
Blackrose |
There is or was a Rover garage in Denia which luckily I have not needed, when I have drove by there always seems to be ZR and ZS outside, although l must admit that when I was there a month ago the place looked closed or maybe on holiday. Going on Monday so I'll keep my eyes open.

Feel free to call in if you're passing (I know it's nowhere near Costa Blanca) |
We are flying into Barcelona in September then driving across to Zaragoza, down to Albarracin, across to Segovia prior to returning to Castelldefels for a couple of days before flying home...... Forget the 'Costa's' get to see the real sights
|
As my username suggests look out for me!
|
Based in Madrid, or Alicante?
Blackrose |
I'll be in Spain from next weekend to mid October. Anyone in the Alicante region fancies a beer or two give me a shout
Blackrose |
Are you taking the wife's "baby" with you. ;)
At least you will be guaranteed some sunshine, this summer's been awful. |
We drove our 75 down to La Marina Alicante July/August covered 3400 miles never missed a beat..was around 40 c.:}
|
Sadly not going in the car. It costs me more to drive it to the airport and park it than it does to fly two of us return to Spain. :duh:
I will do it soon however. Blackrose |

Rusty, done it a few times but on motorbikes. I would take a week or so and enjoy the run down, same coming back, that way it's more of a pleasure if a tad more expensive lol.

Hi BR, we took our time finding some nice stopping points there and back, wife threw a wobbler and jumped a plane back to Leeds, gave more space in the back..bless her:}
Bet it would be a great trip on a motor bike :} |
I was in Lloret de Mar this week, and I saw a beautiful example of a White Gold Saloon MK1 travelling from Lloret towards Blanes
Did not get a chance to see the reg details |
Was it still hot KC? we only spotted one all the way there and back and it was in Spain :}

Yes it was still nice weather, around 32 degrees, the wife and I are out there again at the end of September for two weeks
|
Anyone in Spain over the next 3 weeks, Alicante / Benidorm area and fancies meeting up for a beer and a chat let me know.
Blackrose |
We go each year to Coma Ruga - Camping Francas (nr El Vendrell)- used to see the odd 75 but nothing over the last two years. Stop overnight in Zaragossa - looked forward to it ever year for the last 20 years or so.

Costa Blanca
I live in a small town on the CB. We have at least 2 other 75's in our small town, both dark colours and both Mk1's. Mine is an older English white 2.0L CDT, manual with 137k kilometers on the clock. I've had it for about 6 months. It just sailed thru it's ITV. I used to have a series of 800 variants and I don't think the 75 is a patch on any of my 800's. Whoever designed the 75 needs to be asked to top up the clutch fluid then to change a headlight bulb. Who puts an ECU in such a silly position? Don't they know it rains in the UK? Have you ever seen such a badly designed fuel delivery system? I will try to persevere with the car, but isn't it small inside?
How could anyone put a Rover badge on a 75? BMW quality? |

Setting off for Spain tomorrow. Steady drive through France and then down to Costa Blanca. Be nice to get into double figures with the temperature.

Have a safe trip & bring back some sunshine :cool:
|
Haven't driven to Spain since the late 1960's. We changed a back spring and the big ends! I seem to remember that six lane roundabouts were very interesting! Have a great time and drive safe. ;)

Arrived safe and sound 3 weeks ago. Just topped up fuel to get a proper brim to brim measure. Over about 1600 miles doing all sorts of driving the car returned 44mpg. (2l diesel with cat bypass fitted and 160 re-map) No air-con in use on wy down this may not be the case when we return mid July :D
Only slight issue on the way down was on some of the long downhill sections as was getting brake judder when then brakes got hot. Suspect a slightly warped front disc which showed up more when hot, so maybe some new discs when back home. Car is now parked up the boot being slowly filled with Gin for the return trip. A few people suprised at a 19 year old car actually making the trip:shrug:. One garage we stopped at several people were under the impression it was a Bentley, I had to explain that in fact it was a far more sort after Rover 75. Blackrose |
I take it this was our old girl you were driving :}
I’ve now moved away from 75,s and driving a superb Mercedes SL. It’s a 2004 and has done just over 8k miles since new. I will miss the 75 experience though. :bowdown: |
Yes Jim, the old girl indeed.
You'll be back with the 75's soon, once the novelty wears off :D Blackrose |
Nice to see it made the trip safely :cool:
Somebody must have looked after it :p: |
Just got back from Majorca and only spotted one Rover ( a 75 ) in 10 days! :shrug:

75´s Onwer from Segovia, Spain
Hi 75´s lovers:
I´m living in Segovia for around 12 years already. I´m actually an owner of 3 Rover 75´s. 2 sedans and one Tourer.;) Cheers to everyone.!!!! Joel Antonio. |
Another addition to my garage...
Hi 75´s:
I´m looking to make a new addition to my garage, :driving::driving::driving: It´s another tourer 2.5 Autobox from 2002, metallic grey/greystone interiors..., she needs a little love and tender care:lovebirds:, let´s see if I can soften a little bit the actual owner...:flame: Cheers...!!!! Joel Antonio |
Well we made it back OK. The car ran perfect with only one slightly worrying moment right at the top of the Pyreenees on some steep uphill switchbacks it seemed to go into some sort of limp mode, didn't see any engine light come on but the car just would not pull. Limped to the top and had to stop on the downhill section for roadworks, switched off the engine for 5 mins then we set off again, it was about 20mins later before I could find a level bit to put my foot down and all was well. Never missed a beat all the way back after that. Just a thought, could low transmission fluid have caused this?
The fluid was changed before the trip, maybe the level isn't correct and the uphill section caused an issue, it was also very hot day 35 +. Would a T4 check tell me what happened? Back to the overcast sky and rain. Blackrose |
Nice to hear the old girl is still giving good service.
What’s the mileage on it now? |
Hi Jim, milage is just coming up to 158,000. Just worked out fuel consumption over the 3156 mile trip and she returned 47.04 mpg so not bad considering the air con was working overtime on the way back.
Perfect car for that type of journey. Blackrose |
