Clunk when letting off the gaspedal
Whenever I let my foot off the gas pedal , i can hear a clunk coming from the drivers side, at low speeds
Anyone that has had the same problem? |
I had a similar clonk. It was the rubber bush worn out on the rear end of the front lower suspension arm.
|
As already said, check the lower wishbone rear bush.
It's also worth checking the lower engine mount/tie because that's positioned more to the O/S too. |
I have noticed that it also happens when I put the gear in reverse
|
A common fault , and the answer is indeed likely to be one of the two above suggestions :}
|
Try levering the front or back of the tyre with a long bar. The movement on the rear bush will be clearly seen as forward and backward movement of the wheel in relation to the wheel arch.;) My experiences HERE!

I had the exact same problem on my car it turned out to be the lower engine mount worth investigating as it's a common failure
|
First and easiest to check is the relative aft movement of the O/S/F wheel indicating the lower rear suspension mounting rubber has had it - get an assistant to put into 1st gear, apply front brakes and gently try to drive (rock) the car - you'll see the a lot of free movement at the arm end in the rubber mounting. If that looks OK then it's almost certain the lower rear engine mount rubber that's gone.
|
If you are going to get an assistant to do the above, also pop the bonnet & have a look how far the engine is moving.....you'll soon see if the lower mount has gone by the excessive movement!
