PCV Filter

Hi all,

Some of you know that I've just bought a one owner from new, full service history, 75K miles diesel Conny SE Tourer.

Here's the PCV fliter after those 75K miles. As we know it isn't a service item - but should be.

And here's the new one ready to go in. For those with eagle eyes, yes, I did put the plastic clip back in as well ;).

It really is simple to do and if you're not comfortable or able to do it I'm sure there will be members close at hand - but socially distanced - that can help out.

Hi Andy
Was the old one hard to the touch of soft, if hard then there is a chance it is the original one, if the PCV filter is like that then you can rest assured the EGR will be just as clogged up and the manifold.

It does not look like the ‘string cotton reel’ so it may have been changed. But as we all know, it was not down as a service item, but someone evidently found out it should be. I have still got the cotton reel type in my spares box, and am still alternating it between the flimsy replacement every service. Still does the job when it has been cleaned with white spirit and dried out.

I can't see anything in the paperwork to show that the PCV’s been changed but regardless it needed doing so has been done. With thanks to the knowledge and expertise on here. :}

Why not just fit the BMW permanent fix.
They have a replacement part that replaces the filter
for good .

I think you will find it is not’fit and forget’.

I thought it replaced the filter issue and stopped oil hitting the maf sensor
and destroying it.

Cheers my friend.

You're correct, it's not right - it's missing a "1" from the end - now amended.

Thanks

Blimey, that's a little clogged I bet!
I bought a 75 Tourer on 125k, spitting oil from the dipstick - surprise surprise, the PCV was clogged solid. All good with a replacement.
