Sloshing sound
 

Hi all, car running fine now apart from the fact that the heater is very very slow to warm up and there is a sloshing sound of water which seems to be coming from centre/underneath �� Any suggestions as to how this can be fixed welcome.

Check your plenum:eek::D or if it's a sort of "whale whoop" sound, probably need a regas

This is a separate issue from the sounds you have reported. I guess from your report that the engine is reaching the correct running temperature (around 90C), so the poor heating is likely to be due to a silted up matrix or there's an air lock. I'll assume you've bled the system following any related repairs?

So just to be sure, you need to run the Trip Screen Diagnostics to check the running temperature.

If the correct running temperature is confirmed, then the heater matrix may need a flush/descale. Simplest first step is to disconnect the heater supply hoses from the engine and back-flush the matrix by fitting a hosepipe to the outlet hose and giving it a blast through. Reconnect everything and check for improvement.

If the matrix is blocked, it may be due to all the Steel Seal added to the engine previously:cool:

When I 1st got my zt. 1800 k series.
I used to on 1st start up get a gurgling noise from the heater when cold. Was suffering coolant loss and emulsification of the oil. Also poor heater output.
Changed the head gasket and a good few flush through of the cooling system and all fixed. Not used a drop of coolant (blue not oat) and a toasty heater for nearly 2 years now.
Could it possibly be head gasket failing?
Why was steel seal added in the 1st place?
