Driver's door lock mechanism

During the really cold spell a couple of days ago, my Drivers door was iced closed. Thinking I'd break the ice with a good tug, something broke in the door catch mechanism. The door will now not open either by external or internal handles. If I try opening with the internal handle, the little door lock button pops up, but the door will still not open.

Anyone anyone any ideas on what I've broken????

Think I'll probably wreck my door card trying the access the mechanism.

You should be able to remove the door card without damaging it Bob, I reckon the rod between the outer handle and the solenoid will have come adrift.

Sadly this is a swine of a job to refit even with the exterior handle on the bench, never mind inside the door.

Andy, would that stop the internal handle/cable working as well?

Depends if the solenoid had frozen then broke something when the outer was tried.

Do you know if the front and rear mechanisms are the same (with the exception of the key lock link pin). I have a spare mechanism from a rear door.

I'm afraid all four doors are different Bob.
