It's all a question of perspective! BL, and their engineers, produced a wide range of cars which seemed to fit the styling and incomes of the people at those times. The Marina 1.3TC was a good seller, the Metro sold very well etc., etc. We may be disdainful at times but the real problem was QUALITY and thus RELIABLITY (but they were not alone in that - think French).

My father had a Marina estate as a company car. Helping him clean it, we lifted the rubber mat in the back and were presented with a great selection of assorted washers and fastenings under it.

The ones built in Belguim (Seneffe) were no better, and in some aspects (paint) were worse!
