Air con
My air con wasn’t cold so a few weeks ago I had it regassed. It was ice cold for a few weeks. But now it’s back to not coming on again.
The air con pipes feel cold to the touch if that’s any help. Any ideas? Just checked to see if compressor and fan are kicking in, and it sounds like the fan is coming on, and the compressor looks like it’s coming on too. So this looks like a leak maybe? |

Do the demist test, all the A/C off start the car, then press demist only go to front of the car and look through the front grill is the fan continually spinning. Do the test again this time get someone else to press the demist button, but this time have the bonnet open and see if the compressor is kicking in you will see it and hear it. |

Sounds like you've got a leak, condenser would be my thought. Just replaced mine, completely shot https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...7e4a28fa5a.jpg

Might sound stupid, but is there a separate condenser for the AC? or is it just the large one easily visible at the front of the engine bay? That one looks ok, a few broken vanes here and there but 90% - 95% look fine.
What’s my best bet for tracking down the leak. Will I need to find a specialist air con servicer? |

In front of the main radiator, it might look okay but as soon as I touched mine, it fell to bits.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a714f46659.jpg

Have a look at the compressor-condensor pipe at the bottem under the car, near the tensioner, commen fault they are rubbing amongst eachother and causing a leak there.

The condenser is only in the air conditioning circuit. It contains high pressure refrigerant. Quote:
Tom, you say that both refrigerant pipes are cold. The high pressure line (thin one) should feel hot. Are you sure that your compressor is engaging? With the engine running ask an assistant to switch between Econ and Auto modes whilst you watch the compressor drive belt. You should hear a resounding clunk as the clutch engages and the centre of the pulley will begin rotating. Simon |
