Yes it seems so as it's sparking, maybe it is not pushed fully home ? |
75driver - Thanks for the link. I've particularly noted

But 86 to 87, I get nothing. I didn't get to buzzing out the lines to the ECU. On an interesting note, when the relay is unplugged, there is not a light pump sound buzzing at the front left of the engine bay. When plugged in, I can hear the buzz. Quote:
Thanks Big Russ. There's corrosion around some components, it would be interesting to look at that in more depth. I'll buzz out the lines and take it from there! Trikey - I'm hoping to understand a little bit more about what the ECU is supposed to be doing and what it is doing before writing it off! Cheers, Paul. |

I've just re-watched the video at that time and there's a clear issue with the connector there.. I'll take them all off and clean / reseat! Good spot! Diesels aren't supposed to have "spark(ing) plugs!" :} Paul. |
Good news..
I'll write up shortly, and there's more to do, but we have life!

It is the same ECU. I did clean off most of the water marks. Once cleaned and resynchronised with the EWS Immobiliser module, and I had cleaned up the solenoid valve (injector ;) ) connectors, it sprang into life straight away. TOAF did the resynchronisation. It didn't work the first time, but pressing start, stop, key out, key in, the resynchronisation worked! No electrical work was required on the ECU, so lucky! Needless to say, our other Rover 75s and MG ZTs have now had their plenum drains checked! |
