Advice on a variable TV attenuator

I have been told to get my BT YouView to work better I need to reduce the signal strength form 100% to 96ish %. ????? what??????

Anyway, I am rubbish at electronics, can you guide me on what to but or what to look out for please? I think I'd like a variable one as I don't know exactly how weak to make the signal

That sounds bizarre! I'd love to know why the signal strength needs reducing. 99% of us need it bumping up. I'll follow this with interest as I don't know the answer.

in the digital age, I am not sure how this would be relevant, however, in the past, I was told, that if the signal was strong, it had the possibility of 'reflecting' or bouncing off hard surfaces, and cause ghosting in a picture (even how accurate or true that is, I cannot say).

Hows about this...

or this...

Cheap enough

Looking at I think BT community it said that at 100% the YouView box has difficulty sorting out the data.

I rang BT yesterday and the chap I spoke to was aware of the problem and agreed about the 100% and an attenuator.

I will email the Youview people

You'd think the TV box would have something built in to compensate for this situation or is that a little too simplistic?
