Sills and arches, had to have a bit of work done

As Tom Hobbs is absolutely snowed under with work ( I've been trying to tie him down since last Christmas) I have had to go elsewhere.
A member on here had some work done on his sill at a place near Selby, after he kindly shared contact details I gave them a ring and then I had a ride out to see them. They had a look at the sills that have previously been repaired/patched by a Ford garage (before we had the availability of Toms rear sill panels) and also the rust bubbling on the wheel arches, one part of which was striking through from the back and looked quite serious.

We agreed a price and booked the car in for Monday 1st Nov. Got the car back yesterday. Happy with the results and the finish.

Section/s that needed to be cut out. Both sides were about the same

Hi Ian,
I Have had both rear sills rebuilt/replaced, entire length of sills repainted and both lower rear quarters on the rear wings up to the chrome waist strip repainted along with the rear wheel arches repaired as you can see. Not cheap but an awful lot of work £700.

Can't see the wheelarch repair, very nicely done.

As I'll have to do my sills myself (got the Thomas panels), very interested if you know how they treated the inside rust? Sandblasted, chemical? Is that a plate welded over the jacking point?

Keep well

Hi Mike,
The inside were ground back to shiny metal and the copper coloured substance is some sort of rust killer, he did tell me the name of it, and then over that is the black protection coat :o. They cut the entire jacking points out and started again, hence they look a little different and stronger than the original.

Here is the infill panel welded into the arch. Time will tell if they have done everything they have said they would but just like every other trade now to a certain extent you are in their hands.

I have my own compressor and sand (just a handheld pistol type) but if by chance you remember the name of this rust killer please let me know.

Turns out they didn't want to take my Morris Oxford's sills & outriggers on.
My brother's agreed to squeeze the job inbetween his normal customers never-ending classic sportscar work so l'm bringing her back down here to be finished off.

That's a very good looking repair, looks to be to a high standard!
