Thermostat
 

On the Gates site I could only find 14089 which specified 188 F which converted gives 86.6 C
They list another:- 33019 - 195F = 90.55C
The dimensions look similar but there are no illustrations

The S reg Petrol has an overflow tube which prevents over fill. I
recently discovered this by accident when I thought I had topped up
too much. It was good to meet Kaiser in JHB last Sunday and to

This is the one i (eventually) correctly ordered, when it arrived it had 88f stamped into the copper end of the thermostat:shrug:

However, since fitting, the coolest the engine has run at is 86, even just idling on the driveway the car shows 89 on the obd (i think thats what its called)

I have only ever seen the temp go to 86 whilst coasting down a hill, normal driving it will show between 88 and 91

Again, probably somewhere in the 11 pages. The gates thermostat on order.......which way round does it go in the hose?. Haven't taken a look yet under the hood to find which way the water flow is or doesn't it really matter? Would have thought the bulb should be upstream of the flow?

Water flow is from engine to top of rad. Stat fits in top rad hose at the engine end of the hose with the bulb facing the engine

Im guessing this is the same thermostat? Might try it myself tomorrow as its apparent my car doesn't warm up properly.

Yep that's the one, good luck with the fitting.... cutting the s/steel band can be a ..... of a job though.

EDIT: Ah i see, should be ok, i have a craft tool thingy.

This confirms the engine water flow is the same as other cars. Nice to have a stat you can get to easily!
