4.6 SOHC Mustang Engine and possible a gearbox?
Well the car has been off the road for the best part 20 months. SORN late 2019 and well 2020 not much point really was there. I had planned to tax the car from 1/5/21 (I tax by DD and take the car off the road at the first sign of salt) and start enjoying the car a lot more this year. However with the weather being so nice I plumped for taxing it from Friday which I did.
Drove across the A66 to Whitehaven in Cumbria to see the daughter and pick up the wife Saturday 12:00 - 13:00. Lovely drive, busy with traffic but lovely to be out in the car and with both great weather and location. I never pressed the car just overtook in 5th as and when. On the way home I pressed a bit harder and boom the engine left itself on the A66, lots of smoke and I mean a lot of smoke as we coasted to a safe place. Well once I know what is needed it will become a conversation with the boss (Mrs Miller) about fix or sell. She is not too happy with me and this car right now. It was dark and hard to see but I think most of the bottom of the engine and the gearbox bell housing is totalled. This was a 7000 mile second hand engine and I probably covered less than 10000 miles since the swap. So if I do get it fixed it will be a new crate engine plus some or all of a gear box. I did see a full up assembly, engine and gearbox for sale a few years ago and I did think it would be a good buy but I had no where to store and I didn't need it did I !!! I had a peruse tonight but not much to be found in the UK at least. If you know of or hear off let me know please. |

Rimmers were the last, that I know of that was selling a short engine. Try Dreadnought and the like as they might have something or maybe give you a lead on one. What's the build number? Kev |
