Delphi front drop links ...
 

I fitted new drop links front and rear last November, all were genuine Delphi, sealed boxes with the hologram and correct markings on the arms, after 8 months and just 3,900 miles one of the front ones has failed, the upper joint is rattling like a good 'un.
I contacted the supplier who are replacing it "no questions asked" but when asked if they want the faulty one returned they just said no, throw it in the bin which tells me that they have seen a few of these going faulty. The one on the opposite side is still as tight as a drum as are the rear ones.
It just goes to show that even if you buy good items they can still go bad.

I know Mat at DMGRS offers a two year warranty on his drop links so anyone looking to change theirs soon should be looking there I reckon.

unfortunately thats it nowadays. shoddy goods from who knows where with worthless warranties ..


Timed warranties are practically worthless .. 2 yrs is a good average, but even if you do 10k per year thats nowhere near the miles you get out of the originals parts .


Warranties should be on Miles not years .. :mad:

we managed a 4 years of some wheel bearings ( we'll see its worth in 4yrs ;) ) , as even if you do

My original drop links were only changed because the rubbers were perished, the joints were still tight and that’s 14 years old, the parts should last regardless of miles or time, I’m not sure if the originals that are available now are still the same quality as when these cars were built but it is what it is I suppose.

I've just had to change my delphi droplinks, and a delphi track rod end. All of which were fitted in December 2016 - failed within 18 months. I won't be buying Delphi again :mad:.

The replacements are Borg & Beck, hopefully they'll last a little longer.

I've seen a couple fail now, including one fitted to my own ZT-T.
Also had a Lemforder bite the dust.

Really not sure what to advise in terms of brands these days - I hope and pray ours hold up well, which they seem to be doing so far... but all it takes is one tooling change at the supplier and we'll back at square one I guess!

We do indeed offer a 24 month no-quibble warranty - but will always help outside of this too. :)

i Was on my 2nd set of boots when one OEM Drop linky started to rattle ..

My new ones Meyle have a 4year warranty But still filled them with Grease, out of the 4 end 3 had almost nothing and one end had a decent dollop :shrug:

I had rubbers perish WORSE than the 14 year old originals on the rear drop links recently.

I was shocked! 6 Months on the car, half of that lovely warm weather.

Makes you wonder if they have ever been tested to CE or any other standards. But we don't want those Eurocrats deciding, telling us what quality they will allow into the EU. We'll just buy in any old Chinese rubbish!
