Just Been Involved In An RTA.

Coming back from the scrapyard to get a new door seal (dad was driving), we'd just got as far as Salter road when an uninsured and MOT expired (and possibly stolen) Audi smacked into a council van, which in turn was forced into my car. :( :(

Police were on the scene in seconds, but the occupants of the Audi did a runner. Details of all the parties involved in the accident have been collected.

I'm not going to claim off the insurance, because I refuse to have my car written off by a bunch of knuckle dragging neanderthals, but it does mean I'm now on the lookout for a replacement bonnet in white gold. :( :( :(

That's really bad luck, sorry to hear that. Chris.S.

Least you weren't hurt. A bonnet is an easy replacement.

Claim against the council as it was their vehicle that hit you.

Perhaps, but it doesn't seem fair, taking into account they took the full force of the impact.

Gutted for you. Let’s hope they get the bar stewards and throw the book at them but sadly I suspect they will get a slap on the wrist that they will simply laugh about.

Hope you are as successful as I was with my dented front passenger door in getting a new bonnet. I posted on here in “wanted” and it was delivered to my door by a fellow club member.

At least you are both ok. Cars can be repaired.

Sorry to see that David, just as you were getting her sorted, glad you and dad are ok,it's a PITA when they get pranged, but we all know how good the club is for help,so hopefully she will be sorted soon, hope to still see you at the nano (that's if Pam dosnt set fire to the V6 & the diesel first, both giving us grief ) Chris.

Fair or not,That is why they/you have insurance.

I am sure the council would be after you and your insurance if the roles were reversed..

Why should you be out of pocket ?

Not sure I'd be keen to involve the insurance. A new bonnet from Rimmers is £450, add to that the cost of being painted (£200+?), that's "beyond economical repair" territory. Had a look, you can get a gold bonnet on the bay for around fifty quid.
