wing drain holes

Whilst fitting a new battery, noticed nearside wing drain had big puddle. After trying to rod it out water started slowly dripping from the front of the sill around the rear trim of the wing liner. Surely water should not drain into the sill. Where actually is the drain pipe outlet, and do I have to remove the wing liner? 2001 75 1.8 auto

Not sure what you mean by 'wing drain', do you mean this one?

The drain holes are immediately ahead of the bonnet hinges ,one on each side.
