It was a nice holiday, but now 75 won’t start!

Been away for 2 weeks, all running well before, car sat in garage. Tried to start yesterday, seemed like flat battery, charged for 24 hours, indicator on charger showing battery charged. When switching on ignition some lights were flashing, but now at position one radio works, and at position two sometimes all seems as normal with dash lights steady. When turning to starter motor position, get a click and dash lights flashing, but no starter motor. The pump next to the battery is making a low vibration noise when ignition on after a while it stops.? Any thoughts what might be going on here? Thanks for any advice, suggestions, cheers Roy

Check and clean the battery post connections and ensure they are tight, and if that doesn't work then get the battery tested, as it may have bought the farm. :getmecoat:

Don't worry about the pump next to the battery - it will time out and stop if the engine doesn't start.

Put the battery on a charger for at least 24 hours.
As Mike says ,make sure the battery connections are clean and tight.

Ignore the green charged light on the charger. They lie.---

Don't keep trying to start the car if the dash lights keep flashing. You will severely upset the electronics.---:duh:

Sounds like the battery hasn't charged. Try jump starting it if you have another car and jump leads. Or invest in a booster pack which will get a dead battery going pretty quick.

Took battery for a test, it was dead, fortunately still under guarantee, fitted replacement all ok now. Probably too many short runs, the only drawback for me of living on the Isle of Wight! You can’t go far without running out of road, and 75’s are not great on the beach!

As above. Keep trying to start, and you could scramble the immobiliser. Then it’s a ‘Bri, can you help me out post’.

Solar panels can help. I've used one for quite a few years now and its output is much greater than the cars electronics uses when in rest mode.--;)

Hi COLVERT, can you recommend a suitable solar panel for our 75's?
Cheers
Steve

Sorry COLVERT, I've just done a search and seen a few of your posts.......AA solar panels.
Cheers
Steve.
