Sat Nav Mapping Disc 2022
Evening all (now that takes me back).
Some time ago I was lucky enough to be able to upgrade my Sat Nav system to the 16.9 Bordmonitor, the BM 54 tuner, the Digital TV module and the Mk IV DVD drive. I’ve been really happy with it as it feels original (although I’m still looking for the software to install an 'old' Rover badged splash screen). I have, as times gone on, updated the mapping until I got to 2019 which I believed was the last update available. Trawling back through old posts on the forum I came across this company, Sat Nav Upgrades www.satnavupgrades.co.uk (they do upgrades for a large number of vehicles including BMW and Landrover) I spotted that they have the following DVD in stock: 2022 HIGH MK4 VERSION - MK4 Based High NAV DVD 2022 EUROPE High DVD (TMC, + Speedcams) August 2023 DATABASE FOR SPEED CAMERAS Compatible with the following BMW Cars: BMW cars from 2003 model year to 2010 year MK4 navigation unit. 3-series e46 (2000-2005) They also note on the website that this will be the final update as it is now discontinued. I thought, nothing ventured, nothing gained so I ordered it and it turned up a couple of days later. I swapped out the DVD’s yesterday and it works just fine (although the vocal warnings regarding speed camera’s is going to take a bit of getting used to). Couple of caveats: I have no interest in or links to the company. I’m pretty sure it will only work with the kit I’ve got in the car i.e. the 16.9 Bordmonitor, BM54 tuner, Digital TV module and the Mk IV DVD drive. I’m also sure there are more knowledgeable people on the forum who will either confirm or correct me if that’s wrong. Cheers |
I think it is just the MKIV Satnav unit that is crucial.
Does this disc have the 7 digit postcodes included? |
If it’s a DVD disc, yes it would only work in the BMW Mark IV nav drive. The original MGR drives for our cars were CD based only.

I've got this working with the MkIV disc drive, 16:9 widescreen bordmonitor and hybrid video module. I'm abroad at the moment and unable to check but it has at least 6 digit postcode addressing. Unfortunately if I use it for speed camera notification everything goes French language, anyone have some idea why and how I can fix it!

Modifying the splash screens meant delving into the actual files of the firmware and swapping the images. The disc that’s in my Mk3 drive at the moment is a Land Rover one so it has normal navigation menu but also off road navigation too… which could be interesting |

I have received my 2022 DVD from him.
My satnav already had the V32.2 software on it with a Rover splash screen that I added when I got the 2019 map disc. The disc works fine ( my 2019 was starting to get some glitches) but the main reason I got it was as the last photo on the website said 5 digit and full seven digit postcode entry. Upon trying that out i found that there was no seven digit entry at all. The only postcode entry was via the 'city' field which allowed 5 digits max. Some places only went to four digits. I messaged him to query the seven digit postcode entry and said I could not find it in the menus and that it was the prime reason for purchasing the disc and he promptly replied: "Hi that has not worked for years I don't advertise it as 7 digit anymore may say it on the dvd but cant delete that" I feel he should have made it clear that it did not include it as it was shown as having it in one of his photos and on the disc itself. It does have speedcams which does not really interest me. The TMC seems to work fine too. If anyone has a disc with seven digit postcodes i would be interested. Or a working copy of 'pimpmynav' as that seems not to be available anymore. |
