Have you ever rescued a Rover?

I come from a family where my dad has always had Rovers, and I’ve just turned 17 and I’ve bought the 75 connoisseur, 2004 in racing green (as a car for the future, to sorn and keep safe). This takes the current Rover tally on my drive to 3 haha. So i was wondering if anyone has bought a Rover, just because it was either going to be scrapped, or sold to the wrong owner and restored it back to its former glory.

I bought mine about a month ago, and I’ve already began restoration work on it. It passed its MOT last week, and has been serviced. It’s currently got a leak and is being repaired at a garage. But the owner who previously had it literally just put petrol in it and went, he wasn’t a car guy. It needs a lot of work doing to get it perfect, but it’s not a rust bucket or anything like that! It’s in, I’d say average/slightly above average condition.

This is my car, don’t let the rain fool you! It has scratches, dings and some very poorly done paint work repairs on it and will need a full respray. I recently started repairing the interior and as I said earlier it’s in the garage at the minute. I’ll probably end up making a thread in all the things I do to it! But I couldn’t let it fall into the wrong hands. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...07340c29ce.jpg

To a point yes. I bought a Tourer a couple of years ago, I knew the clutch was duff but lots more was found to be wrong with it when I started work. Alas the Body shows signs of dings. These will be left but everything else except for water getting into the boot area has been fixed. Still trying to solve this. The car has cost too much money and I don't even like the damn colour.

What is the lead that it has?

A water leak.

When I bought it the cap didn’t come off to see how much was in and it was very dirty, I bought a new unit, pulled the other one off to see it was completely dry! Fortunately the owner before had only done about 300 miles in it this year, because he owns a motor home and uses that, but if he did use the rover then the engine would’ve fried!

The garage who serviced and MOTd it suspect it’s something to do with the water gasket, so it’s going to be sorted and back home in the coming days.

A while ago, got wind of a 75 that was going to scrap. Belonged to an elderly gent who'd passed away, and his family couldn't get rid of it, so were offering it to the scrapper. As it was local, I went to have a look and offered double what the scrap man offered. Secured the car and brought it home:cool:

BRG with 16,000 miles only:drool4:

How couldn’t they sell a 75 with 16,000 miles!

Great find and well done.

Saved my Zed from the scrappy. To be fair to the original owner he didn't want to scrap it but his garage bills had racked and then he thought he may have a poorly engine.

Took a couple of years but she was well worth the save.

You won't get your money back yet buts these cars are worth the effort.

Now let me think......3 R45's (2.0 V6 Conn x 2 & a 1.6 Club) , 5 R75's (2.5 V6 Conn SE x 3, 2.0 V6 Conn SE & 1.8 Club SE), 2 MG ZT's (260 SE & a 190+) & a MG ZT-T 2.5 V6.
Not all were rescue cars admittedly but it kind of 'helped' the collecting :D
I have a 1998 MGF (rescue) & a couple of older (1973 & 78) classic cars too as part of the fleet.

Fortunately, I've been a mechanic/engineer since very young so that helps.

You never know! They’re future classics and are very desirable, and can still keep up with modern cars.

Wow!

Great collection.

Do you have a huge garage or keep some in separate places? Great work and keep going I say! hahaha
