Key Fob Prob

When I bought my 75 it came with 2 keys, one of which had a damaged fob in that the rubbers covering the switches had worn through.
I purchased a replacement fob from a well known auction site and completed the repair in no time at all, both buttons lighting the indicator LED when pressed.

However, when I tried to use it on my car I found that the fob unlocked and locked the car, switched the ignition circuit to position 2, but when I tried to start the car....diddly squat ! the only thing I noticed was that the fuel gauge light went very dim. I tried my other key immediately and the car started as normal !

Anyone else had this problem I wonder ?

ta muchly

as above but make sure if you havent put a little bit of bluetack /doublesided tape to hold it in place cos if you lose it it will be expensive

I transferred all the 'gubbins' from the old fob and also the blade....still diddly !

Might have to tie my remaining key to my mittens !

There is of course a remedy to this if you do happen to misplace the transponder ;)

One for you Brian-do you see any problem in removing the transponder and taping it under the cowl near to the ignition- S daughters both have only one key and this option,combined with an extra key blade only second key ,would provide an emergency back up. Would the ecu get confused with a the transponder being in the car with the doors locked on the remote?
I know the correct route is to have a proper programmed second key but economy is the key here(sorry).:}

Apologies for thread hi jack:getmecoat:
