Saloon rear lights

Has anyone successfully dismantled a rear light unit without breaking it?

I ask because I have some dirt in the corners of mine, I took the lights out and cleaned them inside but there is still some dirt that sits along the seams that can't be removed unless I can take the unit apart.

There are a couple of lugs but my guess is that they are bonded around the edge of the unit.

The dirt isn't that bad but I see it every time I go to the car and it's annoying me now :D

Have you considered soaking them in detergent?

Or using a long thin bendy brush with soft bristles ??

I have tried using a fine brush to clean it but the gap just isn’t there to get to it.
The insides were easy, I might get an old unit and try to pull it apart.

I don't think the rear lamp units are designed to be opened up. Unlike the headlamps, I believe the parts are effectively welded together. I'd have thought a good soak in warm water and detergent would do the trick. Spray the metal parts with WD40 afterwards.

Try a one or two of Steradent tablets in the water. Chris S.

Milton sterilizing tablets are pretty good for this sort of thing.
